good to see, allan. i would have done the same.

and yes, JPMM, once you have the cashback you are free to leave. i actually need to wait until end June, as they have applied a credit on my account which, in theory they may need to take back.. and the deadline is the end of June. other than that, assuming i do receive a letter, i will be taking the cashback, and fee credit, closing, and concentrating even more on Amex.

Jpmm - cashback is coming in June and refunded fees if you've already paid them. You don't have to wait til January.

hi Plateria, just used Plat , first time for a while. The reason, for not using, not points, But, No cash back for the first £25! Earned!so, need to spend approx £3000, before earning cash back.Is this same as yours ?
no cash back showing on recent transactions?
Is this Amexs, way of recoouping the £25 fee ?

My question would be what happens when they make the final cash back credit and refund the account fee, you could possibly be still forced to use the card while getting zero cashback until you have spent the account credit.... Or I suppose you could pester them by phone and ask for a cash refund instead?

I'll keep the account open for the 'free' credit reports and monitoring ..

    Cheers,

Don't know if this has been mentioned but Quidco are offering £25 cashback if you apply for a Tesco credit card at the moment.

Applied today and will be using it instead of my Capital One card in June. I remember applying for it based on info from this site in its early days and have had a few pounds back since then.

Yes, got one a couple of months back with 1000 club card points, didn't track, put in a manual claim, and heard it was successful a couple of days ago, so happy days ......

if you want to close your account, just close it. if there is a positive balance they should sent this to your current account, or send you a cheque.

and i wouldn't keep a credit account open just for credit reports. noddle is more than enough for me to keep an eye on things.

Sorry I realise there's no such thing as closing your account early! I was thinking that cashback earnt throughout the year is usually credited to your account in January, so was wondering if you would still get the cashback that you've earn't part way through the year if you close your account?
The final cash back will be paid on the June statement so you can close the account straight after that.

Isn't it strange how some capital one customers cards have been changed with zero cashback and some downgraded to 0.5%, mine personally I paid £18 a year with 1% cashback and a statement credit of £10 per year for being a good customer, always paid my balance IN FULL every month by DD, guess I wasn't that much of a good customer after all to get a zero % downgrade
