    Roddydogs - probably not.
I've had about 3 or 4 that I've used for the promotional period only and it's not stopped me getting another

Make sure you meet annual minimum spend.
Never knew of minimum spend, Thanks, have often not used my Plat for, years, but, never fined the £20 .Only use it for shopsmall.no fee;zero balance on mine for ages now.funny wording though, especially last bit.?
If the standard Annual Membership Fee shown above is £0, a Dormancy Fee of £20 is payable for each
12 month period during which there is no movement on your Account and the Account balance is less
than £4 or your Account is in credit.
won't be long before Aldi bring one out:-)
Wife is always at M&s, spends thousands a year, so, was considering theirs. cannot see a better capone replacement.?? 0.5% or 1% on m/s purchases

Hi planteria, will do, but need a replacement for capone, so, as m/s are mastercard, @ 0.5% on other purchases, thought that would do, unless you have a better suggestion.?? need to re-use plat, forgot about the dormancy fee.
Confused about the Plat and C/b?
One says 1.25% on everything, BUT, other says it's tiered, as we've agreed. Which is it? If I spend £10k on Mbna-amex @ 1%,or, spend £10k on the plat, which pays most C/b.?

As it appears that Cap1 isn't applying changes uniformly, is it worth lobbying the senior management team in order to retain one's 1% cashback rate?

I think they're sending the letters out in batches, possibly aligned to statement dates. Mine came today.

I wonder if they'll offer retention deals to those who cancel after the cashback is paid?
  • I think Cap1 are beginning to sense there may be a problem looming as I (and I assume many others) have just been sent a survey asking opinions of Cap1. In truth I was a happy bunny with my cash back and would have remained a regular and reasonably high spending customer. Now, from 1st June that spend will be through Santander.

Could well be linked to it, yes. I got my Luma letter today, same as my statement date. I got my Aspire World letter on 2 Apr, five days after my statement date.
  • Got the same letter. Is there an alternative? On Amex and Santander at the moment.

Got mine tail end of last week for my Cap 1 Aspire World card.
Shame I quite liked the start of the year bonus so as from June it'll be cut into bits and returned with a letter to close the account.
The BA/Virgin cards free flight offer is looking interesting for a replacement. Already have the Amex and their points paid for Xmas but I'm looking to cancel that before the fees kick in.
