Thanks planteria. I have a Amex Plat,no fee,had it years, but don't use it now, only when shopsmall scheme runs, I recall that, they wrote to me to say they don't do cashback, only points, so got the Mbna amex, and used that ever since.Just use cap one, for those that won't take amex, but, still spend thousands on it, every year;yes joe.. all credit cards are American Express, Mastercard or Visa.. they are just provided by different companies but use those payment systems.0 -
Shame. Got my letter today. Only just joined CapitalOne too after Amazon/MBNA got killed off.
Getting less and less from them. Starting to wonder whether it's worth chasing cashback any more.0 -
Didnt realise it was due to the EU capping transaction fees. Another example why we should leave the EU. Capping fees benefits the retailers profits rather than the consumers. None of the retailers are going to reduce their fees as a result and I'm sure I'm still going to get hit with fees when I book a flight.0

with no fee? are you sure it isn't the Platinum Cashback Creditcard, that does pay cashback? if so, it's the best on the market..use it:T
and agreed danjourno. vote Tory/UKIP depending on who is most likely to challenge Labour in your constituency:A i think we have bigger, better reasons to leave the EU than our cashback cards, but it all adds to the weight of the argument:)0 -
I haven't received any letters from Capital One, so I assume my account is OK for now. I pretty much only use the Classic Extra for non-Amex or foreign transactions. I don't think any other card charges no FX fees and also rewards you!0

Hi planteria, it's a Amex Plat, that always paid Cashback, tiered, used it for years, definitely NO fee.I remember the letter, saying No more cashback, points only, to claim things from retailers, so, I got the MBNA -amex. Will double check again, but, thrown the letter away. Probably phone them.I use it occassionally, just to see it works, and, always use the 4(2 Plats.2 Mbna-Amex. wifes;;) when shop small comes around.with no fee? are you sure it isn't the Platinum Cashback Creditcard, that does pay cashback? if so, it's the best on the market..use it:T

You may want to look at this, it's an Amex Platinum CC with points not cashback:

I already have an MBNA card.
Can I apply for an Amex Platinum even though I have one of these?
Thanks.0 -
i don't see why not.. you can certainly have an Amex Amex and an Amex backed by another provider at the same time0
