  • We needed to source a return flight for a relative living in The Philippines coming to the UK for a holiday. Many screenscrapers etc will not look at flights originating outside the UK. We wanted the flight to come into Birmingham so had the choice of KLM or Qatar. We were able to get Dollar prices from the KLM Philippines website and from the Qatar website - Qatar worked out about £300 less than KLM - total of about £650. The website would not let us book on line as the credit card holder needed to be a passanger. We phoned customer services and were told to go to the Qatar counter at Birmingham Airport. We did this and were quoted £2130 for the same flights........

Another call to customer services explained how to book on line, but pay at the desk. We completed the booking, used XE.COM to convert from $ to £ (£635 this time), and then noticed a tab on the Qatar site to display the price in other currencies - this then showed £629. I printed the whole lot off and headed back for Birmingham airport. The desk clerk initially said that what I wanted to do was not possible, so I had her talk to her supervisor. They called customer services with my booking reference number and were given some overide codes to put into the computer - the system then asked me for payment of £612 - result!

Would it be possible to add Russia (Moscow - SVO, DME, Leningrad - LED) to the list of destinations as well please?
  • The prices of fares vary with how long in advance of the flight you are booking. I have been looking at booking return to Orlando and the cost a year away is £550. However it seems prices are lowest about 3 months before the flight, £300 in this case, with another dip to £350 a month before. I discovered this looking at the 'chart' tab in the Kayak site after searching for the same flight this year.

As you don't mention this in the article (even in the long time planning section) is this not general, am I missing something or is there a downside...

You mean 'Nottingham East Midlands Airport that's actually nearer to Derby than Nottingham'

  • I am new to posting so I am not sure if I am doing the right thing.
I am trying to contact Ryanair because I have booked two flights for my husband and myself but they have sent confirmation for two flights for myself.
The phone just goes dead and there is nothing I can do online.
    Please can anyone help?

Hi Mary, welcome to the site :hello:

Searching www.saynoto0870.com brings up an alternative number for Ryanair based in Ireland: +353 12497791

If you use the International Call Checker there will be some override providers for Ireland so you can call them from 0.5p per minute instead of using their premium rate line.

See the last post of this thread for another number and email address in case the above doesn't work, let us know what happens :)
  • Thank you Crabman,
I will try the numbers and e-mail that you gave me.
I am so sure that I filled in everything correctly.
It was a 1p flight that ended up £56.
Looks as though it's going to get even more expensive.
I'm new to posting but have been following MSE advice for years.
    Thanks again.
