Business owners will employ 3 people on part hours instead of 1 person full time. This so they don't have to pay tax or employers NI, etc.

They then expect the state to top up their income with tax credits, other benefits, etc.

Then they read the Daily Mail and vote Tory because they are outraged at Benefit Britain.

    Fact.

All my employees are on full -time and no zero hours contract.

As I pay slightly above the average on an hourly rate and have a generous expenses package, I don't expect anyone to top up their income with any type of credit or benefit. Most of my staff stay for decades, so I presume they find the arrangement satisfactory.

I don't read the Daily Mail, I probably will vote Conservative and I am outraged by Benefit Britain, from two perspectives. 1. That there are a number of idiots who can't find work and then whinge that East Europeans are taking the jobs..... 2. That there isn't a higher minimum wage so that things like WTC aren't required to make up a living wage.

    Fact.

Because to be fair it isn't just this poster asking

Bit like people who kick people because they have taken a payday loan, because they needed to live err, correction, earns national minimum wage that's before paying for the car park charge and well perhaps not even had the perks of bank holidays paid with no chance of overtime, who would dearly love to support themselves

    Just a thought for you

interesting, I think most would say that tories are more likely to make it pay than, say Labour.

Well they have had 5 years to do it and they have failed.

I agree with number 2 as by the time the staff are paid to sort it all out, the banking that goes with it, the endless paper you have to fill in to get it etc surely it would be beneficial overall to up it for all and cut most working tax credit out

Could you enlighten me as to what tax employers are trying to avoid by such actions ? As a business owner who has employed hundreds of people over the years I am not aware of any tax paid by employers that is associated with their employees' employment status.

But, y'know, since you've stated that it is a fact then I'd be very grateful if you could tell me where I've been going wrong all these years. Thanks in anticipation.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............

You know nothing about me that's for sure, I started work at 14 and worked until I was 70 so don't try telling me anything. People like you are just lazy and as I said want everyone else to keep you.
Ah, you're a pensioner. This explains a lot.

To get rid of tax credits i would need a rise of atleast £3.75 per hour to make it worth not claiming tax credits, and i am not going to get that by any stretch of the imagination.

Don't get the point of that post... of course working 21 hours doesn't pay, otherwise everyone would do it wouldn't then. Gosh it would be the ultimate dream for me but guess what...oh no I can't afford it :)

If you are worse off working few hours than being on benefits and you are not prepared to look for more hours, I guess it's a case of 'tough'. It's a sad reality that we can't have our cake and eat it, but most of us get over it after a few years!
