Make mine a flaming sambuca please :D I paid off my vanquis card today, I officially now have more money per month to pay off MBNA to try and reduce the amount owing on that when the interest free period runs out in June....will never be able to clear it by then, but the less interest I'm paying the better!

I said that I would be back in a couple of days and here I am!

Due to some inheritance I am now below 4k, whilst this is great, I feel a little bit hollow about it. I will toast my great aunt who left me the money and hope I can go on and do something worthwhile with the money that she has saved me.

  • Hi Kirstypoos
As you clear CC you may well find that they offer you further 0% deals. There is nothing the CC companies hate more than an zero balance. One word of warning do check exactly how much interest or fees you'll be paying. As I got to the end of my debt busting effort it was actually cheaper to keep debt on a low interest CC than to pay the fee to transfer it to 0%.
Anyway great news and you are getting there

Thanks LDg, I did have a little working out session when the vanquis was almost paid off regarding shifting the remaining to 0% but it worked out that I would be worse off, so avoided like the plague!

getting out of debt is a hugely worthwhile thing to do - so you are already doing something worthwhile with it!
