Hello everyone and thanks for the lovely welcome
. I'm really pleased (and surprised) at my start into MFWdom!! I've just cashed out £100 from Swagbucks so as soon as this finds its way into my paypal I'll transfer it into my OP account, ready for another £500.
I am still putting some money into savings as we want to do a few things around the house, but we do have a good sized emergency fund still so no need to go too mad!!
The OP from yesterday has now come off my total, so at least I know I did it correctly.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £153.54 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

Today was a forced day off, as we've moved offices at work and the computers weren't up and running so I went home :j.
I've spent the day catching up on TV and competitions.
I also copied a photo of my house from google earth and put a grid over the top. There are 154 squares on it and the plan is to cross off 1 square for every £1,000 I pay off. I've already crossed off 1 square only 153 more to go!!!:rotfl: I admit I saw someone mention it on here years ago and have been desperately waiting to start my own.
I've done a few surveys to help get to my next OP, but the thresholds seem to be a long way off...Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £153.54 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
Ohh I like the grid idea. Not seen that before. You get to physically see something becoming yours rather than imagining the percentage increase or "which bricks are now mine"House purchased November 2013

Hi Rachel, even my DH liked it! Normally he thinks my ideas are kooky, but that's why he married me :rotfl:
It's a really good incentive, although it'll take sooooo long to clear. But brick by brick I'll chip away at it.
Just managed to bag myself a couple of tickets to the cinema from the free cinema listings thread for next Tuesday, which is also our 8th anniversary.. This year it's ceramic and our budget is £8, so he's getting a personalised mug, if it ever turns up from ebay . Every year the budget for presents goes up by £1. It's quite fun to find things for a specific amount but we always manage it.
ETA: Got my swagbucks money, so transferred that into my OP account along with a spare £50 that was lurking in there :jMortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £153.54 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
Well, 6 weeks have passed and a whole lot has happened.
I've handed in my notice for one of my jobs :eek: I've got another 2 weeks and then it's all over. This is a huge relief for me as I feel this was a major factor in my ongoing illness. After I handed in my notice I felt lighter and relieved. It does mean my hours are going down by 12. Before I went off sick in November I was working 36 hours in 2 jobs, then having to go home and do the housework, looking after the kids, etc. I know other people do this and can manage perfectly well but for me I just can't do it and my health is more important to me than my job.
I'll be still working 17 hours in my other job, but come Sept I can increase them to my original 21 hours.
Money will be tight but DH and I looked at our projected new earnings and we can still afford the mortgage, bills, etc. There may not be much left to overpay or get many takeaways though.
Anyway, enough about work...
I OP'd £800 today :j. It's been a long slog to get this, or at least it seems that way. So that's another square marked off the grid. And come the next payment I'll be able to mark another one off. Slow and steady...
DS2 is off to camp with his school next week. That's a small fortune in itself. Camping trip is £125, then we had to buy a whole load of kit, sleeping bag, waterproofs, rucksack, trainers, jogging pants, etc. so last weekend was spent buying these "essentials". On the bright side when DD goes next year we can use most of the stuff again!
Actually, having 2 extra days off a week will be good as I can get the house back into shape  and catch up on my surveys and comps, try to claw back some lost earnings.
Sorry for the huge post, didn't think I had that much to say!!! xxMortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £153.54 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0
