How interesting about the whole gearstick thing. Never heard about that. I was very keen to learn to drive as my Mum never did & living in a rural area it was very limiting for us as children. My Dad drove, & my mum tried several times but could never master her nerves. On wet days having to slosh our way to school a couple of miles to senior, was not nice when seeing other kids being dropped off.
Our grandmother only lived 20 miles away but because my mum couldn't drive and had to rely on my dad to take us, which he never did happily, we kids had to endure almost a 2 hour journey on the puke inducing local bus service. I could go on, so many examples of how we felt life would have been better if we'd had access to a car and driver growing up.
In my mum's case she is quite bad for saying I can't do that and just stopping. Sorry I am not saying that to make anyone else feel bad. But I think seeing her make those choices has made me very hard on myself to never give up on anything whether I like it or not!

Stewby you don't sound crazy at all. I have a very similar outlook / personality, always pointing out my faults before others can, and it probably is a form of self-sabotage in my case, however unintentional. It's like I feel if I tell people what's "wrong" with me they'll see I'm aware of my faults and judge me less harshly: in reality, I know it makes things harder for me as sometimes people aren't aware of my perceived shortcomings until I helpfully point them out, and highlighting them frequently in order to convince people adds to the issue. Self-fulfilling prophesy or what? Then I get really upset when people refer to my faults, when in reality they're just following my lead, which gives them "permission" to slate me, as I do it myself......

Two things that have helped, the first is getting older (it's true that the older you get, the less you worry about what people think, and hitting 40 was certainly a watershed for me). I'm also better at rewriting events positively in my head than I ever used to be, that also comes with age and experience. It will get better, honest - still detest myself in photos though ;-) !

The second is reading about others who feel the same (hence the deep post this early in the morning). I've read several interviews, and had conversations with people I admire professionally and personally, where they say they often feel like a fraud who will be found out any minute. The major difference between them and me is they're not always telling everyone their faults on a regular basis.

So I guess I'd have to claim this as my demon too - know, what to do about it.....? I hope some of this has helped, Stewby.

SOA hope studying goes well and look forward to seeing you back on the challenge threads in the summer.

Was hoping for SFD today but annoyingly have just realised had forgotten to get DS1's food tech ingredients when shopping yesterday...

Hope you all have a good day, turtles.

Up to 8 SFD so far, today will pop in lidls for veg and fruit on way home.

Didn't post yesterday, luckily got up early walked dog before the downpour which lasted till tea time. De cluttered 2 charity bags out this morning for collection. Bit of baking and cleaned kitchen cupboards. Really a boring weekend, feel flat now for it but hey ho 3 SFD in a row, clean garage and sparkling house.

So cross I used my credit card last month gig tickets, rail fares, paid another 10 off that today. Determined will be gone by first week in May as not adding to my debt total.

Geek alert saw the space station last night, one of my friends had list of times and areas to see it on fbook. So disheveled me walking around my patio waving at 10.30pm in my pjs, luckily not the kermit onesie.

So tired today, may pick up wine in my shopping and catch up with Poldark tonight, so gorgeous I need my weekly fix of him.

This month is going to be so tight, teach me not to spend on cards again. I want to see an end in sight. Going to be under 5k by end of this month whatever happens. Sorry whinging, just feel as it will go on forever, overtired I will get off my soapbox now.

    Otherwise Happy Monday folks.
