  • Update - my wife just arrived in from college. She telephoned Tesco and told them to come and collect the shopping as she did not want it. They asked why, and she said it was because they did not honour the £10 discount. The man from Tesco said straight away that we could have the £10 discount. My wife said "Well why didn't you just say that to my husband, instead of causing all this fuss?" Tesco man apologised and said it wouldn't happen again. Yippee!! Got my discount in the end, thanks!! :T:D

Brilliant, here's to your wife for standing up to the bigboys. . GirlPower!:p

I thought that too, But you can get virtual accounts online with no problem, this means you will not get a CC that you can use in the store. You can just use it online.

    www.tesco.com

Then do this - You will be allocated a CC number within 48hrs - You can shop straight away and the points will be credited.

You need new email address for each account,

Make sure you take note of the details you use, Ie name, DOB, Etc

Quick email's from www.googlemail.com - you can also forward your mail from here too another account.

Names to use,Eg Mr John Smith, Mrs Jacqueline Smith, Mrs Jessica Smith and so on

    Tesco-1.jpg

Sorry i bet you are fed up with all these questions but it looks a great way to get extra points.when you spend the points on the virtual accounts i presume you get, days out, restaurant deals which do not arrive with names on?Also won't Tesco notice all the accounts at the same address?

I have no complaints with Tesco (just jinxed that didnt I!!) my shopping is fine substitues are normally ok.

Keep up the good work folks! :T

You know the virual accounts, I set up to see how it works (have not used it again) but it flags up that you are a new customer and my delivery driver actually questioned this with me so this could be a problem if the same person is a new customer each week (there is a little star by your name for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd orders I think) - I said I logged on with a different email address as I could not remember the other one so maybe that was why. So I make sure we use the same account now.

I'll be honest, you can get a holiday a year if you use the points codes once - or when you used to be able to be points codes - my husband has a card and so do I am we do use then once each. When you look on some forums and they have had 5 'virtual' kids in the space of a year just so they can get more baby club vouchers and are getting temporary cards, bumping them up with said points, to flog on eBay - they are just spoiling it for everyone else and Tesco are starting to crack down on things. I got a £10 voucher through the post but it would not go through, they actually checked the code on the phone to ensure it was addressed to me and I had to have the delivery and call back later and get the refund of £10 after I gave them the delivery number. I think the days of codes are long over, they are also blocking peoples debit and credit cards if they are used more than once on Tesco Direct and the like. I am sure that the days of being able to get a good amount of points is coming to an end and those will multiple cards are going to end up with a merged account, there is talk of people having 10 accounts over on that forum and they still are saying they are getting more. Greedy.

I am sorry, we all like to try and get a little extra but people doing this are going to end up spoiling the deals system for all of us in the end.

I need to do an order but there are no codes around, probably for the same reason, it's a shame that it has come to this. People seem to make a 'living' out of getting temporary cards and flogging them on eBay.

Does anyone else think this is wrong and that bragging about it on the forums is only going to bring it to the attention of Tesco who are already doing something about it and soon the codes will be targeted. The odd person doing it on the sly is going to get away with it but thousands of people doing it are spoiling it for everyone else. What a shame.

It seems Tesco are even getting around the H&B Vouchers by not scanning one item if you are buying H&B so that although you get it free your total does not come to enough to use the voucher. You are still getting the item free so you cant complain.

    It's a shame that's all.

Tesco will see all your accounts anytime you make contact with them, hence the reason I always advise ppl not to call them @ all.

I am currently saving for a holiday as the vouchers come in surname only.

    Hope that helps

I understand and appreciate your thoughts on this,

    * Delivery - You right about the * for 1st delivery and ** for second, few ways around that. I lost my login details, I lost my CC and thought I needed a new account. or a simple thanks for the delivery. Drivers are delivering your goods not asking about your accounts and I have yet to find one that bothers

    * Tesco are well aware that people abuse the system in order to maxamise there reward, I strongly belive that Tesco read these blogs/threads with great interest.

    * Codes - I always say some we win and some we lose, there not suppose to be shared but once again Tesco are aware this happens and how often do they stop it!?

    * Blocking - I have been blocked from Tesco Direct before I had many accounts, I had two accounts and I placed three orders last december only to be told my card was not accepted. So I dont think the blocking has anything to do with virtual accounts.

    * Shopping without codes, I do it very seldom though.

Final thought, If people where to stop getting there CC points I think Tesco would be hit hard in there pockets. They will find that many customers wills hop @ ASDA or others. We all know that Tesco is not the cheapest but we all still shop there. We all still read this thread, PTS and related threads.

    Rant over

It's not just online that this happens. I used the same visa card three times in one day in different Tesco stores when I was doing some mystery shopping. In the fourth store the card was rejected: I phoned my bank and they said that it was Tesco that had blocked it. I phoned Tesco and they said that it was my bank's fault!

If your bank supports the system, after completing the Tesco checkout you may be diverted to the "Verified by Visa" page for additional security. This should prevent your card being blocked no matter how many times you use it on the same day at the same store/online.
