How long is the toilet thing likely to take?
I've never come across this in a cat before :-(0 -
I left a poo on the tray, I thought that would help her.0

I know this is probably stating the obvious but did you put her in the tray and let her sniff the litter? I've heard that biological washing powder is one of the best things to shift the smell.
Maybe if you are able, put her in a different room from the rug until she is used to the litter tray and you.
Does sound like stress as cats are very clean animals. I found the felliway does work. Also make a huge fuss of herThe forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

Its very common for cats to find new environments stressful so many will toilet in other areas, a few important questions.
In both of her trays does she have the same type of litter her previous owner was using?
Have you got a feliway plugged in?
Is she confined to one smallish and quiet room?
How has she appeared in other ways, is she eating, sleeping etc?0 -
I'm not sure putting the poo in her tray is a good idea, if I don't take out my cats poo she will sometimes do the second one on the floor as she doesn't like a dirty litter tray.
When I got my cat I used the same litter as she was used to in the cat rescue place, then shifted to the white crystals later. I kept physically putting her in the tray and moving the litter about with my hand where she could see.
Also I originally got a covered tray and she refused to use it and pooed on the floor instead so I soon got rid of that, have you got a covered one? if so try taking the lid off.
Just a few suggestions to try.0 -
If she is about a year old - what was the reason previous owner sold her on? Hope it was not toileting issues?
Cats are very clean normally - yes, stress can cause various behaviour issues but..
Try to confine her to a smaller room (no rugs) with 2 trays and different litters - preferably ones she was used to in her previous home? Perhaps same litter box as she had before?
I brought 2 adult female cats (4 yo) home last Saturday (long story, got 6 in total now) and they are fine despite not living with other cats ( I had 4 boys already) or a large happy cat loving dog (massive at 44 kg but loves cats that ilve with us - chases strange ones though) for a long time (over 3 years).
Both girls are fine from day one despite having been transported in one cat basket for over 9 hours, put into strange environment etc. Few hisses here and there between them and my boys but nothing major - had a run of the flat from the moment I brought them in too and no toilet accidents.
I had 2 trays for my 4 boys to share before, not I have 3 trays for 6 cats and they still happily share with no issues.0 -

Did you rescue them from abroad? Don't forget the photo rule on this thread. Forget what I said, just read your thread.
