Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 6th August 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone
Woke up at 5 am, (4 am your time) but had had 6 hours sleep so no problems there, and a siesta probably this p.m. (I blame the heat not the Sangria). It tried to rain here last night, well about a dozen spots, and I did hear a distant rumble of thunder about half an hour ago, but its still 76 deg (already) and the sky is virtually clear and the wispy bits of cloud around usually burn off as the sun gets up. I've just opened the door and a slight cool breeze is drifting in, gorgeous.
DS is starting his first real job after uni. so hope everything goes well there. Using dial up this week has confirmed I need to sort broadband and a wireless connection out for when we come to spend a couple of months out here in Oct/Nov.
Tasks for the day, get DH out of the pit and go and fetch a new wall clothes airer as our 5 year old one has started to leave a green mark where clothes are pegged on. DH going to wash grills, blinds and windows ready for magnetic fly screens being fitted tomorrow. Call in Lidl for some meat for a BBQ. Do some washing, once I have the airer fitted so I can dry it!
Have a good day, hope the weather keeps nice for your all.

Morning DONNYGAL and AMIE and all who follow.
I really can't tell what the weather will do today but I don't think it will be as hot as yesterday which was blazing! It was too hot to sit out in the garden for more than about 20 minutes. I had to get the fans on the go - first time this year but a very welcome breeze.
I have to wait in today because a mail order company sent me a parcel of things I didn't order - 2 pairs of men's shoes, a jacket and a top! It was a very exciting parcel as well until I realised that it wasn't mine! I had to phone the company concerned and they are collecting it 'some time' today. I hope it's this morning.
I spent last night downloading some free knitting and crochet patterns ready for making Christmas pressies so now I have to file them all and not leave them with the stack of paperwork that has built up since my last office sort out. I've mislaid the last lot I printed out. I will also have to sort the office out before I disappear under it all. I also still have some ironing left to do which I'm determined to get done today. Considering I've been on my own for over a week - apart from one night when I had people staying over - it's a huge pile of ironing! The kitchen floor needs washing and I need to have a quick swish and swipe downstairs so plenty to do.
I'm going to grab another cuppa and go for a wander in the garden. See you later.

Morning.
Looks like a nice day, but I am really getting fed up with the weather. It's been the worst summer ever:mad: .
Yesterday spent most of the day getting ready for a big family BBQ, Got everything set and then the clouds come rolling in. By the time I was cooking the meat it was raining. So all the outside chairs, tables and stuff had to be put away. Crap!
I don't think there has been one evening this summer when you could have sat out and enjoyed the evening sun! Fed right up with it I am.
Day off today, don't know what to do. Fishing tomorrow, so I have to get some bait at some point. Lots of BBQ stuff to eat up tonight, leftover wine too:D .
Well folks have a nice day.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Hello everybody,
Well I'm back to using DH laptop atm. Tim the computer guy who can talk under wet cement  has taken mine away. Did the house out today and got 2 loaves of bread in the oven . The smell is yummy and I wasn't even hungry before. I think I will have to taste the crust to see if it's ok.
Donny-gal I hope your DS has a great day on his first day at work.
Hope you all have a nice day. Welcome Melly. :hello:ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Oh dogrose, I remember all that, put a bottle of wine in the fridge for later, you will need it whatever the results - hope it's good news
Lovely day yesterday, didn't see any rain, and managed to have a couple of hours at the allotment. Got really excited to see we have baby brussel sprouts - and neither of us like them, but we've grown them, so they will have to be eaten
Work today, so tuna salad for lunch, and beef casserole in the slow cooker for dinner
Hope everyone has a good day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Good morning all
I'ts very cloudy here today, according to the weather forecast, it won't rain here till about 4ish, so I'm wondering what was causing the big wet drops on the windscreen as I drove hubby to the station this morning!
I had a really funny phone call last night on the chat line, the guy on the other end kept whispering, I did wonder if he was underage, so was very careful what I said to him, I told him he had to speak up & he said he couldn't as he was in the bath & had locked the bathroom door, whispering so his wife wouldn't hear, once I was confident he was not under 18 I carried on with the call as usual, everything went well until someone, I assume it was his wife, started hammering on his bathroom door. He was so startled I think he dropped his mobile in the bath. Oh well I got to 30p before then.
Plans for today are to use a timer to do 15 minute sessions of tidying the study, if I try to do it for longer I'll get disheartened. I need to pop to the bank & the post office, I'll do a quick round of the charity shops at the same time & may go to Iceland to buy hubby some of their chicken nibbles that he likes.
Hugs to all Hester

I'm waiting for Christmas inspiration to hit me for my cards but I'm getting nothing ggggrrrrrrrr. I only have 3 designs, that's not going to get me very far is it?
I still haven't touched the ironing pile, if I don't hurry up it'll turn into a mountain - but I really can't be bothered.Bulletproof0
