Ugh poor DS chicken pox is horrendous. He has spots on his spots :( He keeps rushing off to the mirror to "look at my spots" and then wails in distress. Anyway we went out to the park as planed with some friends which was good, took his mind off it, but I felt dreadfully guilty for the other parents and kidsthere. When we met his friend, DS held out his hand for his friend to stop and shouted "NO! Dont come any closer! You might catch chicken pox". I was mortified, I am sure I got a load of disapporving looks. Anyway the rest of the kids went in the big paddling swimming pool but I kept my two out, they weren't too upset though.

When we were little the GP used to say 'have a party invite all your friends and let them all have it' no bad thing in my view. The only thing would be to make sure there is no contact with pregnant women. DH was told to go and play with his friends by his mum so they all caught it as well.

Hello, there  Just got back from 2 weeks away in the Sunny South West of England. I now have a *child-free* week, followed by 3 weeks off with the children. I'm intending to have a big declutter, tidy and clean (with the able help of the Small Penguins ;) ).

Today I've done the bathroom - cleaned the windows, pictures and mirrors; swept the floor; cleaned the sink; cleaned and polished the chest; cleaned the dado rail. Still need to wash the floor and clean the bath.

Our bedroom - changed the bed linen, washed and replaced them; left the windows open all day to air the room.

Kitchen - emptied, cleaned, bleached a big cupboard. Cleaned all the contents and replaced them. Swept the floor. 2 wash loads done and dried on the line.

I've done an hour of ironing and an hour of paperwork/admin. Recycling has been sorted and put into bins; waste bin has been collected. The tents are dried and put away; sleeping bags are airing over the bannister; the rest of the camping stuff needs to be sorted out, tidied and put away for next time.

Hope I'll get lots of inspiration and enthusiasm from all of you, as usual :A :T

becca - nightmare your daughter falling down staiurs, its real heart in mouth when that happens, glad she only got a black eye and nothing broken. Also LOL at your doghouse, now you can actually send your OH to the doghouse when he annoys you :rotfl: And yes unfortunatley my DS is too darn celever for my own good LOL he learned to read the hour part if time before he was 3  so we'd be going "its bedtime" and he'd be sayig "but Mummy its only 6" ...... thought about putting the clocks back on many an occasion....

pig pen yes I did wonder about the porridge oats, and I was thinking "wont it go a bit sludgy ???" but then I thought of all those spa places where they whack on oats face mask things and thought maybe it was supposed to be sludgy and I'd just have to hose him down afterwards :rotfl:

AnW. I am in total agreement, I never ever kept my 2 away from poxees, I figured they would get it at nursery or preschool anyway so what was the point ? I've been so surprised at how many people I know are not seeing us til its gone. Plain weird if you ask me.

Anyway since last post I have :
    - got washing in and put away
    - hung other washing out for couple of hours
    - sorted shoes etc quickly in hall
    - dusted hall while duster is to hand
    - hoover front room inc sofas and behind sofas (yuck)
    - same for playroom
    - hoovered hall

Right I must go do our tea. DS is seriously getting on my nerves, chicken pox or not. He is lying on the floor with a toilet roll inner in one hand and some string in the other crying his head off "I just want you to help me" . I say "what with ?" he cries "I don't knoooooooow" and then goes into one. Sigh.

JillD, I had chicken pox as a child, but caught it again when I was pregnant with DD. I caught it from the chap who covered for me while I was on maternity leave  and the first spots appeared on my first day off. Doctor said that there was no problem at that stage in the pregnancy, and I suffered no ille effects. For what it's worth, when DD got chicken pox as a toddler, it was very mild, so I think she got some immunity from my having it.

Hope everything's OK for you. :j

Shirley I am assuming those ice cream holders were not designed for that purpose BUT you market those on ebay and you'd make a fortune ;)

Indeed they are not designed for that purpose, I guess they are for putting carrots in, but I thought I'd treat them to an icecream. Though next time I won't bother as they actually didn't eat that much of it, did mean of course that I could them give the boys the same one leaving more for me :)

Get him to make it into a rattle, give him some paper to decorate to cover the ends then pasta/rice for the middle. Should keep him busy for a while.

I love rats! Except Mad-Alfie, a rat who was left in a box in the place I used to work for, well we don't know, must have been a few days. Anyway, he was evil, not that I blame him. Tired to feed him peanuts but he was just mental! He went to a new home (free of charge) with a guy who didn't mind the bites (this rat was fully grown) after a few weeks he said he had calmed down and would tolerate coming out the cage for some attention, would climb up his arm etc. He just refused to be picked up, but would come over. Must have been treated horrid before!

I remember cleaning out his cage in the shop when I was pregnant, he flew at me as soon as I open the door! I screamed and threw a bucket over him! Left it to someone else to get him back in the cage as I couldn't risk getting a bite with me being pregnant and such... :D

Your two look like total babes though!
  • just been trying to catch up on all thats been going on lately.glad i'm not the only one who ready to kill children(if they don't kill each other before i get to them)love your pics shirley, how many rats have you got? we have 6.
wwent back to drs yesterday, saw differernt gp, she has upped my painkillers as shoulder/arm/back thing is no better.got to go to physio next wk and she in arranging for me to have xray to check its not a disc prob.she also gave me diazepam to help with muscle spasms but makes me so dopey and out of it i'm not keen on taking it.
so no flying as such just about keeping up with the dailies.ds1 has resigned himself to the job of hanging out washing/getting it again, think he's getting the hang of it(t shirts actually get 2 pegs now instaed of 1)

feel bad for kids as they can't go anywhere as i can't drive:mad: so they are bored, running out of stuff to do at home,i'm fed up and grumpy so we end up all moaning at each other.
    sorry for moan/rant

JillD both my sons got them on their pee-pees. Made them swell up and everything. I spent half my time holding the eldest hand as he pee'd and the other half cuddling the youngest as he pee'd. Thank god for teething gel...
