    Just a thought....

my wireless internet thingy, and occaisionally a flash drive for backing up files. sometimes my mobile or mp3 player. but never more than 2 of the above (net usb plus one other) at any given time.

how od i find out the size of my psu?

Ok - just re-read your earlier posts and you say you had been using the Belkin adapter for quite a number of months before this trouble started - so I think that the PSU and USB ports "should" be ok.

Was there any filename given with the error report ( .sys or .dll ) or any other information ( IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ? )

Was there any other error within seconds of the one posted ( one error may have cascaded through your system ) ?

A Stop Error 0x0000001a may also be caused by faulty RAM.

    Did you run MEMTEST86+ ??

Another thing you mention is that you have the original Belkin driver disk.

Are you using these drivers or have you checked for any updated drivers from the Belkin website ?

Do you have automatic update for Windows turned on or do you keep upto date with them manually ?

Just thinking that if Microsoft have issued an update, then this may have caused a clash with the Belkin drivers and they may need updating as well ??

Reset the BIOS. Sometimes you can get the BIOS settings all confused. Usually there is an option to reset to defaults or safe settings. Try this.

Also unplug all peripherals and remove any upgrades like super graphics cards. Get the PC back to basics and start booting it up again. Check it works fine each time before re-connecting /re-installing things. You can start with just a keyboard+screen and add things in from there.

Also in the BIOS there may be a system health option which shows the temperatures of the processor and motherboard. Closer you are to 100 degrees the more likely you're frying your chips. The cooler you are the better.

If all the above works it is then probably whats on the disk. Most likely a driver causing a problem or a faulty bit of hardware.

yes TOG, i'd found that by googling the stop code but didnt really know what any of it meant

the frustrating thing is that the pc is so stable one minute, and works like a charm, lulling you into a false sense of secuirty. then out of nowhere, a BSOD. damn intermittent faults!
