All that media fuss over needing to declare the dress you bought two months ago or whatever and likewise - nobody asked. Just handed over our 3 months bank statements (which were not, uh, entirely devoid of frivolous spending due to needing a mortgage in a hurry!) and NatWest said nothing about it and approved the mortgage! This was through a broker which many have made a difference, but aside from questions about the expected childcare/loans etc, nothing more than that.

We also had to send in an extra payslip from last March presumably for them to compare against the P60 or something. That added a few days on.

Good luck to all waiting. We got our formal mortgage offer in the post 6 days ago - the valuation seemed to take a while to actually happen once we were approved but it all got there in the end. Almost exactly a month from full application to letter on our doorstep.

    Thanks and congrats :)
  • Broker will be submitting our application with Natwest today.

Now for the nervous wait. He keeps saying not much can go wrong now but i'm not convinced!

our broker advised the backlog at natwest in the underwriting team has been cleared slightly.

We submitted requested documents yesterday and she was confident would hear back tomorrow ! fingers, thumbs, toes and ears crossed
  • We applied via a broker on 12th March and received our mortgage offer today, 15th April. Our broker said they don't look at the statements other than to check salaries and credit repayments tally up. We had spent A LOT (ie all our income) in the months previous to application but they didn't mention it at all.

had a message from the MB yesterday apologising for the delay and she now thinks that natwest have incorrectly matched up the credit commitments. Not sure how that could have happened though :-/

I have never had a missed or late payment in 5 years and paid off a boat load of debt from credit cards / credit agreements in Jan / Feb. I'd say 60% of them have been updated on my credit report, which I had to send again yesterday and the remaining 40% havent been updated yet.

Is this a show stopper you think guys? Really starting to panic now :-(

Our MB said she would call her Natwest Manager today to see whats happening

This is so stressful, every time that we feel we are progressing they are requesting more information which I have been informed is taking up to 72hours to be looked at.

Have you heard anything back yet from the additional requested items?

What sort of additional information do they ask for?

We gave the broker everything we could think of bank statements, payslips ect on application.

We were waiting on SA302 for my partner but the broker come back to us yesterday and said Natwest has agreed to accept a print out of his tax return.

I'm trying to think of anything else they could possibly ask for so that we can have it ready

Oh that's good news. I've been waiting an age for my SA302s to arrive, asked the HMRC to fax them to my broker and we've submitted them, so hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Our additional documents were submitted yesterday so realistically I don't expect to hear anything until Tuesday.

I did send a panicky email to my MA last night, asking what happens if we're declined!

Our buyers have applied to Natwest almost 3 weeks ago, and our EA spoke to their broker on Tuesday who said Natwest haven't requested any further information, but the valuation/survey hasn't even been instructed on our property yet. Any ideas as to how long they are taking, as my own broker told me yesterday they are assessing fully packaged applications they received this Monday!!
