Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th August 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Goodmorning everyone,
Susie, I was so sorry to hear about Kyles arm..The poor little thing having to deal with that twice. I hope it heals well this time.
Jackie O, still thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.
I have been to sleep but my sleep is a bit all over the place at the moment so please forgive me if I'm too early with the thread but I may not get a chance to post tomorrow.
I'm really sorry to put a damper on everyone else’s Sunday morning but since my last (happy) post on Thursday, my world feels like it’s fallen apart.
On Friday morning I heard that my closest friend had died very suddenly on Thursday. She was only 32 and the most amazing person I’ve ever had the privilege to know. She had a very difficult life and had been unwell for some time, but she was incredibly brave and I admired her more than I can ever put into words. She was a fantastic, warm, loving person, who was completely selfless and despite what she had to deal with, was so very strong and gave so much to anyone who was lucky enough to know her.
Her death was totally unexpected….I spoke to her an hour or so before she died when she phoned to wish me a happy birthday and have a chat. I am going to miss her more than I can put into words, but not as much as her husband, small daughter and the rest of her family. My heart goes out to them.
As you can probably tell, I’m in bits…. so I think I’m going to take a week or so off from board guiding, at least until after her funeral….I tried to do some bg stuff the other night but I just couldn’t concentrate properly.
Sorry, I’m rambling a bit...
I think what I really want to say is that if you can, please say a prayer or if that’s not your kind of thing, take time out to think of my lovely friend, Sandra.
Thankyou,
Pink

Hi Pink-winged
I am so sorry to hear about your friend, no wonder you feel so torn apart - but weren't you lucky to have spoken with her so recently. I shall certainly say a prayer for her family and friends, who, like you , must be feeling totally devastated right now. Hope you manage to get some sleep soon. I'll be back later, but wanted to post this while you were still online.Resolution:

Hi Pink
I'm up early this morning - another MSE'r with sleep problems. I read this thread every day, but have never been able to step forward and post. But I do feel like part of a great bunch of people when I read the posts.
This is a great bunch that make up MSE, and it's people like you who make it so. I feel such sadness for you this morning, and I'm sure that you and your dear friend will receive many, many prayers from your friends here, me included - only a few hours 'til church.
My thoughts are with you - you will have many great memories to recount in the future. Take things easy for a few days and we will look forward to when you return.
God bless

Morning All
:grouphug: Pink :grouphug: thoughts and prayers with you and your BF's family. 32 is no age, while terrible for you and her family, at least it was swift for her. Since finishing work at the end of June I have heard of the death of two work colleagues, one who reported to me, and was only two years older than my DH, and the other another totally unexpected one at 38 with heart failure. Can I take this as the third please.
Didn't make the irish bar last night, it was too warm to be couped up, sat outside drinking diluted Tinto Verano, playing Whot with DH and listening to music until 1 a.m. Off to the market this morning, before it gets too hot, then off to water the plants for a friend who has gone away for 4 nights to Brussels for a surprise birthday treat from her DH. After that will hit the pool. Salad for lunch may eat out tonight, too early to decide yet.
Enjoy your Sunday

Morning everybody,
((((hugs)))) to Pink. I lost a very good friend unexpectantly a few months ago when I was overseas so know how shocked and lost you're feeling right now. Sandra was so much younger though, her family must be devastated. They will be in my prayers.
Been doing bits and pieces today. Sewing, ironing, nothing that exciting. It was quite cold this morning but has turned into a warm day. Will go and make a cuppa now. Hope you all have a nice day. Byeeeeeeeee
well-medicated :wave:There is quite a few newbies posting lately, so you're in good company. :cheesy: Welcome to OS.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
PINK-WINGED - many many (((hugs))) for you and your friend's family. There aren't really any words at a time like this - just want to say I'm thinking of you.XX
AMIE - Happy Birthday to your DD - see how you feel when your children leave their teens behind! Have a great day in the New Forest and wave as you pass!
WELLMEDICATED - welcome to you - you'll like it here!
Well, I had a lovely afternoon with the grandchildren yesterday - DGS beat me at draughts - again! I'm never going to beat him. He's only 7 yet, after his second move, I've already lost and only play the rest of the game out of politeness! DGD showed me their new playhouse that DS1 has made from an unused shed - I had a picnic in there! - and then they walked me round their veggie plot and picked some green beans and mange-tout for me to take home; I'll have them with my dinner today (the veg, not the children!). They also showed me some of their new gymnastic moves with which I was very impressed.
Today's plan is to take bottles to the bottle bank and pop in to the paper shop, then come home and do the dreaded ironing! Dinner will be a small piece of beef, afore-mentioned veg, new pots and gravy - yes, I know it's going to be hot today but I just fancy gravy and then I'll spend some time in the garden and some more time chilling out on the sofa!
Off to have a shower. See you later.

Pink-Winged, I'm really sorry about your friend - take good care of yourself.
Sunday is supposed to be my lie-in but I seem to have lost the ability to sleep in at the moment  so I'm up and having a coffee in peace before everyone else gets up.
We're off to my MIL's after breakfast, and then this afternoon we're taking the boys to the cinema which I'm looking forward to :T

Morning. A reasonable hour of the day.
I am looking forward to a reasonable day today. I shall take the dog for a walk and get the paper a bit later, with the FREE Bananarama CD. :j .
Cut the grass and tidy up for a big Family BBQ later. About 15 of us I think.
We are babysitting my Bro's 2 kids for him last night, so may skip church as I can't get everyone in the car.
Hope the weather holds out.. Have a nice day.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
