Why Are Young People Encouraged NOT to Label Anyone?

Do you actually know what ad hominem means?
My comment was not referring to your character but to the content of your arguments. Which was/is name-calling and being totally irrelevant.0 -

I don't like 'judgemental' areas of labelling. i.e we see someone doing something ONCE...EVER..and it becomes their label. For example you meet someone for the first time who is having a bad day and they are forever labelled as grumpy
Human beings are far more dimensional than one singular label could ever represent
I'm having problems understanding your logic here, if you could help me then please do.
Are you saying that if I come across a burglar in my house, then it might not necessarily be a burglar?
If someone tries to lift my wallet, they are not necessarily a thief?
If someone spits in my eye, I should not react with anger?
If someone attacks me, I should not defend myself?
What if I do happen upon someone having nothing more than a bad day?
Is it my problem for reacting to the situation as I see it at that time?0 -

Most people wouldn't expect others to have that much interest. I certainly don't worry about how other people perceive me. Why would I? It's my business how I see myself.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
But then you get people on these forums who swear blind that there is absolutely no difference between girls and boys except their genitalia.
The above just confirms my suspicions that that's nonsense, and that there ARE innate differences between men and women.
The male brain and female brain aren't the same and MRI scans of gay men have found that in some of them, there's virtually no difference between theirs and a heterosexual female brain.
I don't think a lot of MRI brain scan research has been done yet as it's very expensive. I recall that one bisexual man's brain was scanned and there was virtually no difference between his and a heterosexual male brain. I'm not aware of any MRI brain scan research on lesbians or bisexual women.
Research using facial recognition software, at a Dutch university, using volunteers who identified as gay men, showed that there are facial features which can indicate homosexuality - and they weren't very feminine features.
Previous research has showed that a very macho type of man is more likely to have daughters and that the more straight older brothers he has, the more likely a man is to be gay.
In the States, a study looked at sexual response to !!!!!! in people identifying as straight, bisexual and gay/lesbian. ALL of the heterosexual and bisexual women were turned on by both genders. Some of the heterosexual men were turned on by both also, but to a lesser degree than the gay and bisexual men.
Back in 1948, Kinsey's study found that 37% of the straight male volunteers in US, had had some kind of homosexual experience as adults0 -
I think this thread went off topic several pages ago .....0

I never respond in depth to anything that starts with ''Are you saying that ...<insert entirely different scenario than I have typed>?''.........
No, if I was saying ''that'', I would have said ''that''.With love, POSR0 -

Then perlease enlighten us to what you are trying to say.
My impression is that you are saying that I shouldn't judge someone on first impressions.0 -
The two labels i think people would apply to me are fat and bipolar (or mental/crazy/etc). Fat, hmmm, well i am fat, so really its a staement of fact, in just dislike it when people use that label as an insult (such as being called a "fat b!tch"). The bipolar label itself doesn't bother me so much, knowing what my illness is and being able to access the right treatment because of that label isn't a bad thing. I sometimes describe myself as the crazy one or being a bit mental but again it doesn;t bother me unless someone was using it as an insult against me.
Which i think can be said for various labels, they're ok for the most part used as a descriptive thing, but not as an insult. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
How do people know that you are bipolar?
As far as I know, I have never met anyone who is.0
