What is wrong with some people (More neighbour drama)

  • Personally I'd find it perfectly possible to say "Get the ball yourself" and, when she goes to do so, decide by sheer coincidence to use my garden hosepipe to water the garden at that moment and in her direction.

I'd definitely be out turning on my hosepipe fast if I spotted her trying to climb over into my garden.

She might have to get drenched a few times before she realises you are quite prepared to do so and stops her antics.
  • I would be in the garden like a shot to retrieve the ball and throw it over someone else's garden. I bet she soon gets fed up of dealing with different neighbours than yourselves.

I can imaging it is all pretty stressful. I hope you have some success.

Tonight I'm going to go home, make sure the bell is turned off, close all the curtains, crack open a bottle of wine and watch a good movie. If I hear the rustle of the fence, I'm going to open the curtain, take a picture, smile and wave.

It is very stressful, but I'm going to try and treat it how really it should be treated, a sad woman who has nothing better to do than kick a football at someone's house.

I have nothing useful to add and they sound like a nightmare, but the police are too overstretched as it is, I highly doubt they'd deal with criminal damage from a popped ball!

I feel your pain. we had a neighbour like this last year.

Security is key for me, we have 13 cameras at the moment and are about to install 2 more, you literally can not approach the property without being caught on a camera. Maybe a camera on the front of your property (high up so it cant easily be damaged) pointed at your door (make sure it doesn't film anyone elses property) one at the side covering the gate and one on the rear of your house (again high up and only covering your property) will catch her doing the things you say.

strips on top of the fence and gate are perfectly legal but make sure signs are displayed and take pictures of said signs for future reference etc.

If she happens to be in the garden whilst you are letting your dog out for the toilet and it bites her, there is nothing they can do. We happen to have a large dog who doesn't take kindly to visitors in the garden and is often outside for the toilet. But make sure there is one sign at the front of the property saying there is a dog running loose and one at the rear or on the gate saying a dog may be running loose. If she ignores it and the dog is using the toilet and bites her.... oops.

Two small punctures in the ball and throwing it back as requested will soon see them stop kicking the ball there, if they try the blame game just say well it could have punctured on something that was on the ground, they would have a good job trying to prove you actually did it.

Keep logs of everything, the more video/picture evidence you have the better. if possible record all conversations with her using a voice recorder or video recorder on your phone, remain calm and as polite as you can be. she cant argue with her own voice/face if caught on camera/voice recorder can she?

The one thing that we think got rid of our trouble neighbour was smiling at them and we would always answer the door with no shirt on (I live with a male flatmate) just to weird them out a bit. keep sending logs etc to HA and they'll soon get fed up of complaints etc and !!!!!! them off to another property hopefully.

I'd be doing this ^^^ or throwing the ball out the front door. Too bad if someone else picks it up.

I really wish I knew what it was because then I might have a chance of at least sorting it out. She doesn't know our names, we don't know hers. We only know her son's name because you can hear her shouting and swearing at him through our double glazing. It literally started one summer three years back out of the blue. We hadn't even met her or seen her before!

Like the woman's son most likely you have done nothing at all to cause her to treat you in the abhorrent way that she chooses to. She clearly has very deep set issues to lower herself to behave in such an intimidating, rude manner towards others.

Unfortunately nothing that you say or do will make the slightest difference to her or make her think to stop her campaign against you. I really feel for you because we had neighbours near us like this who made peoples lives a misery for three years. They moved away just before Christmas.

I wish I had answers for you. All that worked for me was to control how much I allowed myself to be affected by them and the impact that they had on my life.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

I sympathise-I am moving house on Friday for exactly the same reason...so so so sick of hearing the thump of the ball and the kids asking for the ball back and all the other stuff I have to deal with like them threatening to kill my dogs...I will add that I lived in my previous house for almost 10 years and had no issues there.
