  • How is your son/daughter getting on Cherryscone?
  • Hi, when my son did his papers last year, I used 80% as around the AQE Mark of 100....a benchmark and gave me an idea of where he is going. This year, I had to pull out son number two as he was just going nowhere with the papers and no in my heart he would work so much better in the local high school.

Hi SugarMummy, I was thinking that myself. If she keeps over 80 in her practice tests she should be ok hopefully. I thought 100 was probably more than 80% though?

I mean slightly less than 80.

    (100 = 77/78%)???
  • Really not that straight forward the way the scores are obtained and they vary from year to year as the papers are marked according to the level/standards of pupils of that year within their month of birthday. if that makes some sort of sense lol I used 80 as a benchmark and worked for me x

Thanks RikM. Yes I'm trying to ascertain how my child's practice scores would translate to an actual aqe score. It's not very clear!
It's actually more or less impossible to say... I mean, if they are getting 90-100% all the time then you're probably safe, but you still won't be able to predict a score. Anywhere between 105 to 120 depending on what everyone else is getting.
The problem is that the scores get adjusted two ways: to compare to kids of the same age (at the time of the paper) and to make the average score around 100.
  • Hi, just joined in today. My eldest child is getting ready for the test and I'm starting to feel the pressure now! So delighted to come across this forum and hear some reassurance from other parents.
  • Welcome Flashfriend! I'm glad I found this forum too, it's all such a minefield!

How is your child coping so far? Have you got a tutor? Is your school much help?

I'm starting to feel the pressure here too. My daughter's school is going two papers a week and I'm doing revision work at home with her (no tutor) and a practice paper every Saturday morning. She's doing well so far (fingers crossed), it's just silly mistakes at this stage.

Roll on December, can't wait for it to be all over!!
