Flash Friend I am with you on that. Its a shambles the whole thing ! Its not over either until May next year either. Such a long drawn out process and unnecessary stress for everyone !0
-
Just wondering how hard AQE mark. Noticing on DS papers from school that is say a question has two parts a and b and he gets one bit wrong of part a - he gets 0 marks, would have thought 1/2 mark for 1/2 question correct.
Any thoughts ? - suppose when it comes to actual papers being marked they will all be consistently marked .....0 -
I'm no expert but I think you get no mark if 1 out of 2 is wrong. No half marks as far as I can see!0

Yes I noticed that myself not a fair way but then its an unfair system anyhow .~We are all going to hell and guess who Is driving the bus~*Norn Iron club Member 294* (Hi, we’ve had to remove part of your signature. You know, there are a lot of comments on here about the stress of the transfer test, both on the children and the parents; also about the system being unfair. Do you people not realize that by participating in putting your children in for transfer test you are perpetuating your so-called "unfairness" of it all, especially for future pupils? If the parents weren't in favour of the exam, no one would participate in it and the unfair system would have to be scrapped. When will you all realize that all schools follow the same curriculum regardless of it being a grammar school or not? There are plenty of schools off the radar who are preparing children for life after school perfectly adequately without being grammars. There are so many routes to third level education etc nowadays that it is not imperative to attend a grammar to get into university. And as regards getting children tutored: I have never encountered such a waste of money in my life:rotfl:if the child has not got the ability to do the test without additional tuition, then in my opinion it is so silly even attempting the transfer test. What happens when they get tutored to pass an "unfair" test, get into grammar school and then can't keep up? More tutoring? I think you all need to calm yourselves and get a bit of wit. It is not the end of the world. I pity your children.

Don't assume the transfer test doesn't apply to me...no keyboard warrior here, just a sensible parent who hasn't been taken-in by the hype of trying to get my child into a grammar school. Some of the posts on this thread are bordering on hysteria. You complain about an "unfair" system, "unfair" marking, etc., then go and perpetuate the system that is aggrieving you!! Can't any of you see the irony??? :rotfl:Would be laughable if it wasn't the children themselves suffering. Too much emphasis being put on the "need" to get in to a grammar school...all in your heads. If the child is eager and keen to work, any school will meet their needs.0

Mrs Mac, this thread was set up so aqe parents could support each other through this stressful time. The process may be unfair but it's the only one we've got at the moment and we're all trying to help our kids through it.
Perhaps you'd be better off venting your opinions in a letter to Stormont?
Coming on here attacking us is totally uncalled for. Or perhaps you're just a troll looking to cause trouble?0 -
In the latest NI school league tables, the top 67 (highest GCSE scoring) schools are Grammar schools. And you wonder why parents are keen to secure our kids a place?0

MiaMam, I wouldn't waste my my time replying to this nonsense!!!!0
