  • Hi New to this forum but have been following it. DD Raw scores

    Paper 1 52
    Paper 2 51
    Paper 3 57

AQE Score of 112 with a March birthday - scores were typical of her practise papers in school so no real surprise and more than enough for her first choice

Thanks, again fab scores...once we get enough raw scores we should consider compiling a table, just for future reference.

Ok, I'm going to the kick this off, raw scores in this morning. AQE score 109: paper 1: 52, paper 2: 54, paper 3: 48. February birthday. I think it is important to post these for children sitting the test in future years. My opinion is that the raw scores were low this year hence the 3 mark increase from raw score to AQE score

That's really baffled me!! My dd is also a February bday and her raw scores wer 51. 52. 51. Aqe 104. So your child got a combined 106 and marked up 3 and my child got a combined 103 and only marked up 1???? Is your child a boy? Do they get marked up a lot? That's made me understand standardisation even less!!!! :rotfl:

The only thing I can think of, my dd is 21st February...is your child closer to march? Maybe March was a low scoring month so more was added? I'm so confused, I might best contacting the aqe office
  • I don't believe it is as simple as taking the highest two scores and adding a point here and there, the age standardisation is combined with the difficulty of the test, so if the average for the test within an age group was for example 51 and your child scored 58, this actually gives them more AQE points, this is what I believe happens and why you often see children who were top of the class, getting a good AQE score but others not typically top get higher - its all about getting above the average - thats what seems to get more points

Maybe it's best not to compare raw scores....if we can't understand such a robust system then what's the point?
  • Hi,

My daughter is sitting the transfer test in November and I was wondering if anyone is intending to sell their AQE practice materials. It doesn't really matter if they have been completed as I can block test out!
    I live in Templepatrick.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Raw scores just in:

    DD January Birthday

    Paper 1: 50
    Paper 2: 57
    Paper 3: 54

    AQE score 111.

This is the sum of her best 2 papers so not marked up or down?

Also, this is what she was tracking at in practice papers towards the end so no great surprises with the score.

    Hope this helps!!

I donated all of mine to the primary school....they can distribute it to the kids sitting it next year, or I'd happily given it to you ..... All the very best for November :)
