A child is like a butterfly in the wind. Some can fly higher than others but each one flies the best it can. Why compare one against the other? Each one is different. Each one is special. Each one is beautiful.
  • thank you all for your kinds words, the lengths some people go to is unreal ! Bad timing, but there was never going to be a good time I suppose. Good luck everyone for tomorrow x x x x x x

Rainbow mac Hi, I would suggest you complete the special circumstances form as soon as possible and get your childs doctor to complete while its fresh in your mind. If your child ends up with a borderline line Mark from the Aqe then, the extra marks could prove useful to obtain a place in the grammar school. Special circumstances are there to help children who may have been affected by eventsincidences out of their control such as a relatives ill health. Each school that the parent puts down as a choice makes the decision regarding whether additional points should be awarded or not. And it's not necessary 5 points either, may only be one point depending of the nature of circumstances.

Well I can forget about any extra marks as my DS is the oldest in the school

The children are all assessed against those of the same age within the same month at the time of the test. So therefore no child is disadvantaged or gains advantage over others.

Hope your DS does well, and all the other kids and I'm sure they have all worked hard and deserve a big treat once it's all over. X
  • Well folks DS fast asleep the wee pet never gets stressed and is so easy going but he just isn't himself today. We let him pick the takeaway tonight and then a couple of hours on the Xbox finished off with me telling him how amazing he is and how proud we all are of him. Good luck to all your little darlings tomorrow xx
  • My daughter came home from school yesterday in tears. Her teacher that she loves bits is leaving them after Christmas to go and teach a P6 class. The P6 teacher is going off on a career break so he has been told by the board of Governor's he has to move across as they start to prepare for the AQE with the P6 class and they will need a familiar face. My daughters class will have a brand new teacher after Christmas - a stranger as the post has to be advertised ! Half of the class were in tears, boys and girls. He is a great teacher and so good with the kids, everyone loves him and always live in hope that they get him for a teacher. Now they have him and love him hes being taken away from them after Christmas. Really bad timing as we head to AQE tomorrow. Now the other Mums are going to see the principal and explain how upset the kids are and head down the route of "special circumstances" with AQE the same week as they got this news ! It could have been timed a bit better but I suppose there was never going to be a good time. Just think its a bit extreme to go down the road of "special circumstances " Anyone else experienced this or similar ? Any advice greatly appreciated :-) :-)

I think it is shameful that any parent would even attempt to abuse the SC process for a reason such as this. This is NOT what SC is about. If they try it, I hope they get short sharp shrift !

Very, very best wishes to all your little ones for tomorrow, it will be good to get 1 test over with :)
