I also believe that scores in the 70s are really good,
I also think scores in the 60s will translate to an AQE score in the 90s which is good enough to get into many grammars.
Kids do not need to be scoring 80% or more to get into most grammars.0 -
Well
This week it's been 69 to 74 with a tummy bug so I'm hoping he will be ok but you know it's too late to worry it will be what it will be - hopefully0 -

Hi
Thought I would post to try and help you all.
We have put 2 through AQE - 4 years ago and last year with 114 and 106 results.
At this stage I would recommend not putting pressure on doing papers this week and ignore any results this week by using any work as practice only.
Concentrate on building confidence generally and reminding them that they can only do their best etc.
See what treat they would like after the test on Saturday and have them look forward to that.
Not sure if this helps but good luck to all.Smileand hopefully the world will smile back

Hi Flashfriend
Maybe the school means that with a score of more than 80 you will definitely get into any school. My DS scored 81% last year and his AQE score was 103.
If your are aiming for a school that needs 102 or more then yes, you would want your child to be in the 80s HOWEVER very few schools need 102 plus! Hence, scores in the 70s are good enough for many grammars and scores in the high 60s will be good enough for some too. This is particularly true for the larger grammars as more places means they will usually have a lower 'lowest' score than smaller schools. So the larger the school, the better your child's chances, in most cases.
Also, as most kids scores end up clustered around the average AQE score of 100, it is quite possible that
64% translates to approx 95 in AQE
68% translates to approx 97 in AQE
72% ............................ 99 in AQE
76% ............................101 in AQE
80% ............................103 in AQE etc etc0 -
Thank you Flymetothemoon for this information. The school we are hoping for took 90 last year so let's hope she can do it. So fed up with it all now.0

Hi - thanks for this good advice. This is my second go at AQE & doing the tutoring myself. My policy this week is to not put on too much pressure & give son a test today that he has done before in order to ensure a high score to build confidence for going into the real thing - then tomorrow after school no working - just chilling out - worked last time so will try it again.
All the best to everyone!0 -
Hi All
Last year my DS scored 74% (I got this from theAQE "people") his AQE score was 96.
I also found that keeping Friday night as normal as possible ie. went to youth club as normal, bed at normal time - all very calm & relaxing, little talk about AQE, scores or anything etc. seemed to work in my house. Remember all the work has been done, it's time to have confidence in your child. Good Luck0 -
Based on that thestack if that's similar we will prob need about 78% to be about 98:99 I'm unsure if it will happen in trying so hard to be confident in my ds he's only a wee young one this seems all to grown up for him .
Did you Managebtinget a grammar place or your first choice0
