I just feel like such a bad mammy as poor wee DS done 1st Aqe yesterday and today he was doing a mock test for the gl this Saturday. Today he got 73% English and 98% maths fingers crossed he can come close to these scores on the day.0

Hi everyone just been reading through some of the comments on here. My son sat his 1St paper yesterday like many others. I'm really panicking because he doesn't always get the papers finished on time. If he gets approximately 65% in each paper does anyone know roughly what mark he would get overall please??
I've no idea how this all works :-(0 -
Hi new to this... my daughter found the test straightforward enough. However, I have been more anxious than her the school she attends is very competitive and the teacher choose last week to tell the class that 27% of the pupils have received 100% in one of the tests. I felt my daughter was doing ok as she has been achieving a range of 70-83% in practice papers. The sooner this is over the better .. feeling totally stressed0

Why would the teacher even tell the kids that0
-
That was very insensitive of the teacher Belfast mum but I think your daughter is doing GREAT with them scores0
-
Why would a teacher even do that? I reckon 8 kids out of a class of 30 scoring 100% would be an exceptionally high number. Unless it was a particularly easy paper or they're an exceptionally bright class of kids! Either way, don't worry about it, your daughter has been doing really well with those scores. X0

In another school children who score over 85% in tests are rewarded with a sweet in front of the whole class!!! School can be such a toxic environment for many children. Thankfully in my DD's class I don't really know anyone else's score.0

Hi
If you take a look at last year's thread (2014/2015) there is a lot of discussion on how a percentage translates into a standardised score. You will see that two kids may get the same percentage but end up with a slightly different score - this is because kids are compared to others who are a similar age to themselves. Although people say you can't really work out what the standardised score would be I feel that this still gives a useful approximate. The most information on the thread is after the results were released ie from 31st Jan onwards. I think I may have posted this to the wrong person but doesn't matter really as all can read it!0
