I do think that involvement of an IGT in the switch process is absurd, however - surely all that should be necessary is for the old supplier to inform them that they are no longer the supplier and who the new supplier is?0

Yes, I did wonder if was simply that Zog are underestimating the time for a switch involving an IGT - their original switch date was just 3 weeks after my application, which would have been remarkably quick! Their email is worded a little ambiguously - when they say that the IGT has not accepted the request, I suspect they really meant the IGT has not yet replied rather than objected.
Oh. I didn't see this comment earlier when I posted something similar in the other thread you are discussing this in

I don't know the full ins & outs of what information is exchanged, but if they are not on the same electronic communication system, then it's back to the old, reliable, if slow, ink, paper & a postage stamp0 -

I don't think it is absurd that a company that is transporting the gas to you through it's pipelines is kept fully in the loop with who is charging you for that gas, not least because they will be wanting their share of that money.
Well nor do I. Kept in the loop - fine. But being able to delay or even object - I don't think so. At present, it doesn't appear to be simply a matter of informing them, but also of awaiting their "acceptance". I fail to see what they have to accept - if the supply has been taken over by a supplier approved by OFGEM who says it will pay the IGTs charges then their "acceptance" should be irrelevent.sidbee0 -

As far as I am aware the IGT has no right to object to a switch request. Nor have they any right to intentionally cause delay, nor, for that matter, could I envisage any possible reason for them wanting to.
However, if they are not linked electronically and so communication is based on a snail mail service, then an inherent delay will result compared to those that are able to communicate electronically with each other.0 -
You are correct, currently iGTs use all sorts of communication methods. From October (planned) Xoserve will have replaced the central gas registration system and it will encompass iGTs so it will be one process for all.
Is that also the date when Ofgem has dictated they will be capped as to the charges they apply?
I think new customers (to the IGT) already have their IGT charges capped, but this is the final bit that covers existing customers.
Presumably this clamp-down by Ofgem is why most energy suppliers no longer apply a surcharge to their customers supplied via an IGT?0 -

All npower said when I phone them is that they will said another email to their moving dept!!! Is there anything more I can do? I will be moving to OVO standard rate soon!!!
Update
I have now found out that Npower or my IGT (GTC) are having problems with their software. They both don't know where the problem is, my IGT said they are only having the problem with Npower. Npower have now cancelled my Gas contract, I will now go with ZOG.0 -
Much like in my own case then, the problem seems to lie with NPower!0
