Sorry to hear the problems you've experienced with Zog.

I recommended my mate switch to Zog; he is supplied via an IGT.

All went swimingly. Kept fully updated by Zog, and the switch occurred on the date requested (as you know, Zog allow you to select the actual date you want the switch to occur ... within a 3 week window I think he said)

I don't know what to suggest, other than follow the supplier's complaint procedure. It appears you have fallen a long way short of their usual high, albeit basic, customer service standards.
I don't think I'll put in a complaint, I'm not angry about. I'm a bit disappointed that I wasn't kept informed, but if they are having problems with the IGT then not much they can do.

To clarify, Zog normally contact new customers the same day as you first apply, with details of your account number, and details of your cooling off period.
Yep, I got the first set of emails and then they wanted some additional info about previous addresses.
    footyguy wrote: »
They then contact you again (assuming you've not cancelled), about the time the cooling off period is coming to an end with your welcome letter, etc.
This is where I seem to have got missed. I didn't hear anything at the end of the cooling off period, I guess because my switch had been delayed. This is when I contacted them and found out that the IGT have refused their application.

They have set me a new switch date of 01/5/15, though I have not heard from them again since then. Maybe I should email and ask for a progress report.

They also send another message about the same time to confirm they have been in contact with the exising supplier

Then they contact you again with details of your direct debit - you also got to choose the day the DD is collected every month.

They then contact you about a week before the switch date asking for a meter reading (to be given +/- 5 days of switch date)
Not had any of that yet, and it is about a week before second arranged switch date.

Sounds like for some odd reason, they failed to send you any of these communications, or one suggesting there was a problem.
Yeah.:( Maybe their current low prices have landed them with a glut of new customers to deal with!

This will all change in October when Xoserve replace the gas registration system and iGT MPRNs are processed in exactly the same way as GT sites.
    How it should be!

Response from Zog after I emailed this morning:
Again, we apologise that your switch has not progressed as fast as we would like.
We can confirm that the IGT ( GTC Pipelines Ltd) have moved your switching date to 06/05/2015 and we are now awaiting confirmation that they have accepted the switch.
We do chase the IGT on a regular basis throughout the week and as soon as we are in receipt of a response we will be in contact.
I am getting good responses from Zog, but It seems that I have to ask before I get an update.

I am happy with how they have handled things so far. Just wish I could be paying lower prices already!

My IGT was AGAS and I have a yellow meter. There was great fun when a earth moving vehicle cut through a gas pipe line and AGAS and Transco were visiting every house not knowing who had responsibility. I don't know who succeeded AGAS but some supplier transfer have been seamless over the years whilst others have been painful.
I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

    Starting to get some movement:
We have been chasing your IGT (GTC Pipelines Ltd) for an update on your switch. They have confirmed today that your switch is being processed for the 6th May. Your current supplier has until Thursday to object to the transfer.
If it gets this far and BG mess it up, I will not be happy!
  • I am transferring my gas and electric, the electric is okay but I am still waiting for the gas, I phoned IGT and they said they have no record of the request. I phoned Npower and they said they will put it through again. I knew is would take a time but this is the first hurdle!!!

Who ever said don't go to npower was right. GTC (IGT) said that even if npower sent an incorrect request they would have a note of it, they have not received a thing. All npower said when I phone them is that they will said another email to their moving dept!!! Is there anything more I can do? I will be moving to OVO standard rate soon!!!

    Oh!

I am with an IGT too, and haven't had a problem on switching - yet! However I have only been at this address for 5 years. so my experience is limited to SSE, Sainsburys Energy (BGas) & EDF.
But I applied yesterday to switch to Zog.................. watch this space!

    Well, here IS the space!

Email from Zog today: "Your switch was not accepted on our first request to your gas transporter so we are sending a further request."

I don't get this. What grounds can an IGT possibly have for not accepting a switch? Do they even have a legal right to prevent or delay a switch (assuming that their charge is paid by the energy supplier?)

It might be worth phoning your IGT, there may have been an error in Zog request!!!

Zog gave the same reason for my switch delay. It could be that because Zog are new to IGT that they are just underestimating switching times, making the line about first request not accepted a little white lie.

Or it could be that since they are new to IGT they are not quite getting the switch request right, causing delays.

I don't see that as necessary. I just let Zog get on with it and sort it out. Within a week of the original problem everything was sorted and they hit their switch date bang on.

I would just let Zog handle it, they seem to get the job done even if there is a hiccup along the way.

Yes, I did wonder if was simply that Zog are underestimating the time for a switch involving an IGT - their original switch date was just 3 weeks after my application, which would have been remarkably quick! Their email is worded a little ambiguously - when they say that the IGT has not accepted the request, I suspect they really meant the IGT has not yet replied rather than objected.

(I do think that involvement of an IGT in the switch process is absurd, however - surely all that should be necessary is for the old supplier to inform them that they are no longer the supplier and who the new supplier is?)
