Had a tough day yesterday, which resulted in a strange day today! So quick update to make sure I've posted for the day.
£1 TT'd this morning, so really motoring with this fund now. Didn't manage to get any extra eBay listings done and have a bag ready and waiting in the hall! Actually sold 12 items on Sunday for an overall £51 profit. I've relisted everything tonight for 5 days so we'll see if any there's go. Money will go towards DS1 birthday in January.
We also received a cheque for £118 towards osteopath costs for Mrs SJ. She pays £2 per month into a work fund which allows her to reclaim £250 per year for treatments that keep her from taking time off work. We actually spend about £300 per year (budgeted of course) for osteopath after back surgery 5 yrs ago, so it's a no brainier really. I'll pay cheque in at the post office when I take eBay stuff tomorrow, then going to use £50 as a bonus OP and put the rest towards Christmas food!
Really need to sort house insurance tomorrow. That was a job for yesterday before time as stolen!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Doing well on the sales.
That's a good work scheme and nice OP extra there - used to part with £40 every 4 weeks for Osteo (back surgery too 12 yrs ago), she's refused to touch me since autumn last year until current issue sorted - flippin' discs! But saved a fortune in the process.
Whilst I've sorted Christmas, you've just reminded me I've got a couple of December birthdays and 5 in January to sort :eek:Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
Ali - osteopath has been phenomenal for MRs SJ so we keep it going every 8 weeks as it helps her to remember to keep on with rehab every day/week! In the weeks when she was really bad heaven knows where shed have ended up without it.
January birthdays!! Just to add some extra slice to the longest month and we've gone an added another (well nearly added one)!
Payday today and the important one as its effectively Christmas pay packet. 59p TT'd this morning taking the pot to £16.85 with 6 days to go. Will it sneak to £20???
November OP total looks very impressive and may get to £600....!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -

Exciting! Really building up the suspense...(Bit sad, that, but hey, I embrace my financial geekitude.)

Maybe Mrs SJ can have a late one and hang on til Feb..spread the birthdays a bit more
Superb OP, you're nailing this journey well and truly.
I'm just starting to see the real snowball effect of the OPs 2 years in which is exciting - cumulative interest falling by a chunky amount with each passing month and OPs bigger than my spreadsheet tells me (as based on the original repayment mortgage figure).

Ali - I totally get the whole excitement about snowballing cumulative effects. I'm seeing it after 8 months and each month it gets bigger! As equally geeky/nerdy is that for each passing month I keep looking at my budget thinking I could easily sneak another £10 etc... If anything I'm holding back a tad in preparation for 'Doris'!
I do need to start looking at adding some long term savings for 'Doris' at the same level as DS 1&2 without reducing their monies.
Oh in money news, house insurance finally sorted. 35p a month less than last year and £25 cash back! I'm then expecting Santander 123 to be gone tomorrow!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Hi All
Manic weekend due to a) my birthday and b) DS1's album launch - bed at 6am Saturday!! So all adrift here!! Tilly tidies £2.41 from food and £1.07 from 'happy stash' (my new name for entertainment budget - used by Jackie O on Make Do and Mend thread on the Old Style forum - a much more fun name!)
I have started to keep the monies separately in two distinct purses and it really helps to keep control! Food wise another 7 NSD days - that tidy is from about 2 weeks - think I bought some crisps for nibbles for birthday 'do'.
Jimmy - Im not totally clear what was wrong Santander 123 - my friend swears by it! I gather though that they can put up the costs of having that account?? Is that why you are moving?
Ta for any info
Tc allAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!
Life gives us only lessons and gifts - learn the lesson and it becomes a gift.' from the Bohdavista :j0 -
Lynn it is because they increased the fee to £5 per month which virtually wipes out my gains. At this stage I haven't got 20k of savings to capitalise on the interest. I'm not ruling out the account again in the future, I just figured I could use it for a nice post Christmas switching bonus!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0
