Facebook only works properly when you get to a critical mass of friends.

When I got to about 100, it became interesting.

Now my whole social life is pretty much planned around it

    I have 358 friends now :S

How did you get 358? I thought I was doing well when I hit double figures!

You can be my mate if you want, I've only got about 10, Mel has like 200 or something - little Miss Popular

Most uni & school friends, plus a large number of people I've met at parties and a lot of friends I know through my, erm, political hobby.

I'm not quite sure - I estimate a good 2/3 of my friends are people I know through the Conservative Party

One of my friends has 1300 friends  , but he's a gossip columnist for a national newspaper, so I'd kind of expect him to know that many people. I used to work in Westminster, and hence networking was a key part of my job.

I'm on Face Book, but I have no idea how anyone pulls on it.

Do you just root through loads of likely looking people and ask them to be your friend??
My plan was to get Mel to set me up with some of her scrummy friends. :D Shame they all live in London.

No idea, I didn't join to pull, though I did get "poked" by the second girl I snogged  I guess it just widens your social sphere & that's as good a way as any to meet an eligible chap or lady.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

It does help if you live in London - every other person in London is on FB.

If I'm at a social/political/networking event, there is no need to swap business cards: just remember your new friend's name and look them up on FB the next day.

Unless they are called James Smith and then there are thousands of them.

Splendid, I did feel little old looking through there, and I stumbled across a couple of conversations that were obviously in text speak, I just could decipher them.

Anyhow, on the subject of friends, I have about half a dozen people who I consider real friends, the sort you could call at 3am and they'd help you out, anyone other than that are just acquaintances. I'm not a networky type guy (another reason I'm single) which is why I employ a sales and marketing guy to do it for me. I never was good at that small talk thing......

Anyhow, if anyone is inclined to add me on Face book, send me a private message and I'll give you my full name.

I was once dragged into an argument with a hippy type free love young lady, she was spouting all sorts of socialist propaganda.

During the tirade I was accused of being a capitalist pig, I thanked her for the compliment.

This sent her into a frenzy, she got so worked up she couldn't talk any more and had to walk away, giving up on me as a lost cause.

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
