chance would be a fine thing...
  • Been thinking about getting a very rare (auction value would be about 4 grand) 14th century sovereign placed into a 18ct ring holder by a jewelers. Interested to hear peoples thoughts. Would one sovereign ring = chav?

Also dont really know what hand/finger youd have it on.

Wish I knew some twentysomething women like that! I find they are the exact opposite.

You're looking in the wrong places!

I do know thatsome City bars are frequently solely by women who are trying to find rich City bankers. They're just parasites, and most guys see right through them.

I don't have those sorts of ladies as my friends, I suppose!

I can't help but wonder the following: many of you guys *expect* women to be gold diggers. Are you seeing things in their behaviour that aren't really there? ie, they're asking about whether or not you own a house to find out how stable you are (the nesting thing again), not because she wants to run off with half of it?

It wouldn't surprise me to one day flick on the news to see Bruno being carted away by the police having just gunned down a mob of pensioners at a bus stop.

I suspect that is why Boden is so successful, in part - nice quality clothing, sans flashy labels.

Now you see, I think Boden is seriously overpriced - £70 for a skirt? I'd rather go to Primark ;)

Although I bought a lovely pair of leopard print wellies from there - and they have a heel! (I don't do flat shoes!)

I guess the thing is, no-one want to live like a miser *all* the time. It's good for the soul to occasionally indulge. And whether that's shoes, bags, art or jewelry, then what's the problem?

Many years ago I saw a wonderful painting at an exhibition - at £6k it wasn't cheap . OH and I loved it, but decided to go away and think and be logical. When we went back, it had been sold. I still regret it today - it would have been £6k well spent.

Yant - would you ever consider buying your intended a engagement ring? They aint cheap!

ETA - just don't go there with the sovereign ring! The Del Boy look is so Not good.

I suspect you find these girls everywhere, they're not my type either. Of course I could have some fun with them....;)

I don't expect (most) women to be gold diggers, the original point was that women prefer homeowners & I still think that may be true, though not necessarily as a sign of affluence.

Yant - how many people will be able to tell that your sov ring is made with a £4k ring & not some tat out of Argos? Only you. It screams chav bling.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

Yant1, you'd be better spending the money on a Vauxhall Nova with an expansion pipe. :o

Bag the girl first, then she can't complain about your ring.
