Started again just now. C'mon MSE, it can't be difficult to filter posts that have baba this and baba that in them

Some bots can be a real nuisance.

There often patterns such as always registering with the same email address (e.g. xxxxxx@opressi.pl) in which case you can translate opressi.pl to IP and block anybody registering with an email domain that resolves to that IP.

The reason for converting to IP is that they often accept mail from multiple domains on the same server so you can block multiple domains in one hit.

This also protects 99.9999% of legit users as they won't be using the spam mail servers, and even if they were, that servers reputation is so tarnished that sending an email to them is troublesome anyway.
