I dont agree with first post approval.
I want to join an forum and be active/get the answer i want/need.
MSE needs to look at their mod team set up and/or software solutions.
Hell if they want to whack a few Google ads in then so be it. ith the traffic this site can generate enough/more income to cover the costs.

First post approval doesn't stop you joining nor does it stop you posting a question nor being able to search for answers etc
The only thing it causes you a problem with is the slight delay in your post going live

I assume that MSE's problem is lack of a technical resource.

Life can be made very much harder for the spammers with a few simple rules, that can't be particularly difficult to implement...

1. No foreign characters in thread titles.

2. A new thread cannot be created with the same title or first post content as one created within the past 48 hours.

3. A new thread cannot be created within 15 minutes of a previous one by the same poster.

4. Add foreign spam words to the censorship filter.

5. Add a "sins" counter, so that any poster racking up 10 counts of the above breaches within 24 hours is automatically suspended, pending investigation.

That would work in this instance but wouldn't work with that last attack a few months ago by that kitchen place or whatever it was

I'd have thought (hoped)a spammer is going to be suspended well before 24 hours

yes, and all those spammers have been reported by me (and probably other BGs as well) hours ago so there is no excuse why nothing has been done about it yet - it's 10.18 FGS, where are the MSE staff - they've had ample time to remove them :mad:

Which all begs the question, why are we even bothering to report when no action is taken...

Have I missed something but how do you reply to 2 & 3 if you're not registered ?
