So that every single post that I contribute to this thread is on topic I would just like to say I am an elite 11+ member and I hear the unjust silence of my opinions whilst I am shopping in supermarkets mainly. Just sayin.0 -
Tweets...are you looking for suggestions for mothers day presents apart from the obvious chocolate or flowers....
my mums house used to get really hot too..have you thought about maybe an artificial orchid or indeed any other artificial flowers, they really are very convincing nowadays and my mum even used to water hers!!...many a time I had to resuce the potted daffs from water...
other than that how about some nice shower gel or soaps or even shampoo if you dont already keep her filled up with the glitch stuff...
or a new nightie those always went down well with my mum....as did any form of cake or sweets....for some strange reason as mine got older she also liked a teddy bear and a helium balloon, not that thats a suggestion for yours though...unless you really think she might appreciate either!!
It is really difficult buying for someone who has most things ...but hopefully your mum will just be happy to spend some time with you over the weekend
What a lovely lot of suggestions for us all to ponder over :T0 -

Well this is true, no not tested:o
No need for the embarasssment - it's a good idea! We did have, years ago, some good comparisons from T on apples - for example they had £1.50 Golden Delicious Apples 1Kg bag that compared vs straight £1 price in A on their 750g. That 'ought' not to have happened, since the A ones were lower than the 10% weight range. How times have changed - A's at £1 now have downsized to 600g:( over the years!
This is what I have from t.com:Tesco Braeburn Apple Min 5 Pack 670G
SAVE 71p Was £1.50 Now 79pOffer valid until 15/3/2015
Which, are, technically outside of the weight range from A's 600g+/-10%. So, A's 600g do not compare against that product - upper weight range on APG (and it does appear to be applied strictly regarding vs T) is 660g:(.
And this tray pack:Tesco Braeburn Apple 4 Pack 590G
Any 2 for £3.00Offer valid until 15/3/2015
£2.00(£3.39/kg)
That's an offer:eek: btw, for two packs of 590g at 2 for £3 - i.e. £1.50 each:eek: - think I'll not take them up on that. They are £2 individual price:eek: and that is adjusted upwards as A are 600g. However, I now see that I've been down this road before and why I rejected this. I doubt the tray pack will compare against a bag. However, even if they did, to get a price match to 94p on the 590g tray pack would be shortchanging you by 10g instead of buying them in A at that price. T PP does not adjust for weight. This is to "ensure fairness" between competitors' products, according to T.
I'm not playing this game - or at least I'm not playing the game in this way. I will not be having lower weight of apples for the same price! I'd rather have 600g at 94p:(, even though that's not good (if one of the 'better' ones you can get with wombles). Approx. 750g bags of Braeburn apples in M at 2 for £1.50. (75p each when buying two.) Or, I think, 99p for one bag - works out at around 79.2p for 600g even on full M price and not getting the mbuy saving. (Shows how expensive for the quantity the ones in A are!)
The M ones are outside weight range from 600g A, although weight ranges aren't strictly applied vs M. However, unfortunately, they tend to be sold by weight in A whereas they are by number in M so they are non-comparable and therefore don't compare on the APG. Instead, you'd pay expensive A price and they become a filler:(. Just shows how expensive A are on regular fruit. If M is available in your area, it appears much better to buy using Morries fivers in M - as A either gives much less for a higher cost or sees you buying much larger packs and still paying them more. None of which compare on the APG.
Even though M mbuy is 75p each, as opposed to T's 79p, this is not for Tvs M as T's are lower weight and don't make up for that. As for M's, I wouldn't put the Braeburn Apples (at least not on mbuy) on an Mvs T comp. Under 20% weight range in M M&M, that might be 750g *0.8 = 600g, thus capturing the T 670g product and adjusting its price up by weight to 88.43...p. It's possible that one bag could add a few points to M&M vs T, however this is beaten by M's mbuy pricing.
In the circumstances, perhaps better prices can be found on fruit in Aldi or Lidl (it varies each week, but I do think you tend to get more there for your money - if you pick whichever variety is on good offer - I've even been known to buy with real cash in Aldi or Lidl rather than wasting a womble in A). Perhaps A are losing some shoppers to Aldi, for example, partly for the reason that prices on items such as these tend to be much better. A still has a perception of being fairly cheap (maybe those old round pounds?) - but maybe as a major supermarket it's also associated with being dearer like all of them are - and it can be a very expensive place to shop for certain items. We also see £1 (and 98p:mad:) r'back deals being converted into expensive mbuy prices, that match the expense available in the other majors. Fruit is probably best bought from a local market than from the supermarkets.0 -
I have a question for the newbies if I may...how did you find the elite?
I guess everyone can answer if they so wish, but it really does interest me how we all bonded...
me I clicked on the thread at the time by mistake thinking it was something else, and ended up staying to see if I could work out what was going on....i'm still here, none the wiser as to whats going on...but glad I have made a few friends along the way!
At the time the chat was penny T items so it became a challenge to find some...
I found the thread a few years ago tbh when the big rice pudding glitch was on, I found it through another forum and spent a solid week reading back before I attempted my first shop! Been dipping in and out ever since0 -
