Sounds like you've had one of the most positive days in an age Alex. So pleased for you:A.0

:rotfl: Re. flutemaker ex. Must say I'd find it quite odd if Mrs K was in touch with any exs. Suppose she might be and I just don't know about it, though.
Well, I've known him since a day or so before my 17th birthday, so we've got 23 years of friendship versus under a year of going out, it's a bit of a different situation to a 'normal' ex. I'm not in touch with any of the others. And it's good to keep Mr Minx on his toes just a little bit:p;)

Today has been seriously strange, my In-Laws turned up this morning, completely out of the blue to give my son a present they'd forgotten to give my wife on Saturday. Son went to school and In-Laws and I talked, a lot. Quite honestly changed my opinion of them and I really hope the past is behind us.
You have no idea how much this made me smile. It shows how far you have come that you have had a good talk to them with an open mind and heart.
I am SO glad Little K had a good birthday, he definitely seems to be settling in a bit better at school too. I had an "aww" at him wanting to go because they would sing to him, I used to love that too!
Your positivity is infectious (it has made me feel better reading these posts!), and LONG may it continue!
(See, you ARE a good person. As we keep telling you. :-P )
A rather cheered up HBS x"I believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another."

Thanks, maman.
It was a positive day, my wife is really pleased and strangely the In-Laws have helped me to see that I am contributing. Really quite guilty for some of the things I've said about them in the past, to be honest.cazmanian_minx wrote: »Well, I've known him since a day or so before my 17th birthday, so we've got 23 years of friendship versus under a year of going out, it's a bit of a different situation to a 'normal' ex. Over these past few years I've had a lot of growing up to do, I think, HBS.
My son had a nice birthday and loved his birthday song too.
I'm trying to stay as positive as I can, today has been tough and I've rather badly fallen out with my parents. Been to counselling and had quite a bad session but also managed to find a tenant for the property someone moved out of a few weeks ago, accompany some music exams and do a little bit more to current house jobs.
Do my best to try to be a good person, though not convinced I am one. Glad to cheer you up, though.2018 totals:

:rotfl: Yes the party is tomorrow. Don't really know how it's going to go as I've fallen out with my parents. To cut a long story short, despite making my views (and Mrs K's) on corporal punishment very clear, my father thought it appropriate to completely disregard us as parents. Son is now very upset and frightened about upsetting his grandfather again.
Will be honest, I wish the party was being held here but it's only for a few hours.2018 totals:

You need to make sure that Little K is willing to go back there tomorrow for the party as he is the important one in all of this. If not, just a couple of games at your house might be better. Musical bumps, musical statues and a pass the parcel will keep the children amused0

Oh dear, I'm afraid that's a line crossed right there. In your shoes I would move party. That behaviour, if I'm reading correctly between the lines, is totally unacceptable and now it's not just effecting you but littleLK too. Sometimes you have to accept that whilst you love some people they are just not very nice. If my parents did that I'd never speak to them again, I really wouldn't. Shocking behaviour.
Keep strong though as you are doing so well.0 -
Oh dear, he has crossed a huge line there.
I agree with the post above, focus on little k for today and what he feels comfortable with, save dealing with your dad for another day! How many do you have coming?
If you have to hold it at home, as debts new budget says, old fashioned games and plenty of little sweets to hand out as prizes and let them run wild around for a couple of hours, you won't enjoy it but they will!
Sorry didn't see occ's post above.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Shocked by line crossed.
Alex that is totally unacceptable.
Am quite outraged on your behalf. Shall I pop round and have a chat with them?Think quite a few folk will come with me
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0
