I know I've posted this elsewhere but I think it deserves another post on here: http://www.englishsalvage.co.uk/reclaimed-canopy-bath-and-shower-unit_item_15736 This would be wonderful but really not sure I could [STRIKE]lie to Mrs K about the cost[/STRIKE] justify the cost.

And that would fit into your bathroom!!

Yes? I live in a Victorian built house. When we finally complete the bathroom project I want it to look in keeping with the rest of the property. Mrs K wants to go modern with a walk-in shower area.

I seem to have regained interest in the house for the moment as I've spent the evening trying to find pieces to complete my ideal bathroom. The downside is the total cost coming to about £12,000. :(

    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

I envy you the high ceilings. I live in a Georgian style cottage (Garden city suburb) so rooms aren't very big at all.

What about the shower in this house which sort of blends into the background?

Glad you're taking an interest. Have a good day with LittleK tomorrow.:)
  • I have to say that you should be pleased That your wife's parents want to be GP's despite of the sweets and iPads. One set of MiniOCCs GP's have taken no interest in him and haven't seen him in 5 years despite being able to.

Perhaps don't think about the negative and see what positive a different set of people with different ideas and attitudes (whether you agree with them or not) could add to his life.

Not having two sets of interested GP's makes me sad for miniOCC I'd be so happy if his GP's wanted to see him and if they brought him sweets I think I'd faint!

I am not keen on that bath Alex, but I do like the shower idea from Maman.
If you are seriously thinking of selling the house then try for a modern victorian twist

I hate cast iron baths, they are so cold that you cannot lie back in them, soon took the one out of our house when we moved in

If the room is big enough then the idea of a walk in shower in the correct style, along with a bath would suit you, Mrs K and any future purchasers

The house could be something really nice if I could be bothered to put the effort in and was willing to spend a bit of money.

I don't really like the ideas in that link, it looks confused and more modern than old.

Son and I are sorting Halloween today. Looking back over this week I'm a bit disappointed in myself because I've not managed to take him to many places.

Sorry to hear about the uninterested grandparents. Despite all my differences with the In-Laws, I can't deny they are family orientated.

Yes, I'm unhappy anyway so it would hardly matter.

Can't see the house being sold for a while yet. I'm not going to get a divorce for the sake of living in a nicer house.

Current bath is cast iron but from the '50's and we do not spend ages sat in the bath - don't see the point.

Personally, I don't want it to look modern at all. If Mrs K held the cards, the whole house would be modernised. :( As it is I'd imagine future purchasers wouldn't be interested unless they like old things anyway.

It's very fashionable to retain 'original features' but people also expect mod cons. It wasn't the whole house in the link I was suggesting just that you could compromise with MrsK by having an unobtrusive shower (no more than a tiled corner with a plain glass wall) while doing the rest of the room/fittings in a Victorian style.

Interesting though it is to discuss interior design I was trying to suggest ways that you and MrsK could live in harmony!!;)

Enjoy your Hallowe'en prep and don't eat too many sweets.:)

Not sure why I'd choose to sell my parents' house?

You say that in the same quizzical tone that the rest of us say 'Why is Alex obsessed with keeping his parents house?'

Who is 'holding the cards'? Hopefully it's both of you
