Hi alex, stumbled over you again by accident.

What a difference to the start of your journey. You are a man with a vocation, confident in your parenting, being in control of your money, making your own decisions, which your parents are starting to accept. Less and less bad days.

You just need to respect yourself now, because if you dont, you cant expect anyone else too.

It is wonderful to read your mortgage free journey. Really wonderful.and you still have a very engaging writing style. If you converse with new people in a similar way, i bet you gather new friends easily.

    Hi Red,

    Thank you. :)

I don't expect anyone else to respect me.

As for conversing with people, I'm not really very good at that. The nice thing about the written word is the fact it can be thought over, drafted and edited before anyone reads it.
Haha it's hardly the hood up here is it! In Buxton today and the drive here was fantastic.

I'm loving the dog names discussion, if we are going on wine choices, my wine choices are on the look of the label so on that basis id take absolutely no notice of anything i have suggested!

Have you been to Pavilion Gardens?

:rotfl: At the wine choice, she won't be called Syrah. Cannot have the vet thinking I'm too fond of the stuff, now, can I?
That's how my rescue spaniel arrived with the name Dora...we changed it to Jura pretty sharpish!

Isolde for yours...? ;) Shortens nicely to Izzy for shouting purposes :)

My first thought was Isolde until I considered I'd have to shout her name but Izzy / Issy fits well as a shortened version and give her a 'proper' name for the vets too. Thanks, Caz. :D

    Wednesday 12th August, 2015.

    Dear Diary,

An early entry today as I've made some money for the savings...and am only £1,000 from meeting my savings target for the year. :D:D Obviously that means my sale went through which has given me quite a bit of motivation to prep some other items.

Do wish the savings weren't for the house though, for only half the money I've saved so far this year I could buy one of these, http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C639105, to add to the Triumph collection. :D

Currently reading an interesting book about schools / education policy / current education system being 'outdated'. Oddly enough it's turned into something of a self help book as a lot of the early chapters are about the problems of low self esteem, rather ashamed to say I saw a lot of myself. Since I started seriously considering teaching on a more formal basis, I've been very reluctant to tell my parents for fear of what they'd say. However, they seem to think it would suit me and that they'd be 'proud' to have a teacher in the family. That was somewhat of a shock to say the least.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

Yes, it was my DS that wanted Alvin. It was 5 years ago now and DS got his second choice of character name for Springy, so it's long since forgotten. :)

Not educated at all in opera, sorry to disappoint! So is Isolde/Izzy/Issy the one? :j

Well done on the sale and extra to savings...close the car websites Alex :D

I know your parents approval is something that makes you happy, so it's good news to hear that. Parents can still surprise us sometimes!
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

I would like Isolde / Issy but will have to wait to see if Mrs K approves. As for Tristan and Isolde, it was originally a medieval legend which Wagner turned into an opera. Full of useless facts, me.

Sorry to disappoint but I won't close the car websites, sometimes there's something on there that I can run for a few months before selling for a ££££ profit. :) Sometimes there's silliness that I buy and just scrape the money back for, though. However, depreciation free motoring IS MSE and you can buy an awful lot of petrol for the cost to finance a boring econobox. :D Besides, I hadn't linked to a car. ;)

My parents' approval does mean a lot to me, though I'm not sure why, really. Wasn't always this way but I suppose since my father has become frail, I realise they aren't going to be here forever. Father seemed frightfully old today, it was sad he was unable to take my son out with my mother though I really am praying that I've inherited mother's health.

  • I will pray for that too.

I do agree about classics being MSE.

DH has just introduced a swimming pool to my land rover discovery. I wasn't as grateful as I might have been.

I like single syllable names for dogs.

Finally, another Landy fan. :) Which LR Discovery have you got? I've got a 70k 300TDI, it's a great car for towing / working, not many left in the condition mine's in now. :) Also got a Defender on order.

Well I had thought Suzuki as a great link between cars, bikes, violin and Puccini.:)
