There is not one of us, who does not put off "something" till another day. So your just like the rest of us :)

And as for not motivating yourself after a lovely weekend away, well can't think of anyone who does :)

Hope someone gets to the bottom of your father's condition very soon, always best to know what you are dealing with, that way you can start to tackle it :)

I never thought for a minute you were being ostentatious re; the watches. I just love the way it's so matter of fact to you making comments like that :A Can't help smiling when I see comments like that :T

    Thanks, AFK. :)

I am rather too good at putting things off for the next day, week, sometimes even month. :o

Not had a great day today. Little has been done and I've felt on edge all day. :( Tried to deal with updating the finances but it started making me feel quite ill and I was questioning myself about a lot of expenses. We spent a little too much on some clothes for our son last month. When I started to question myself about that even though there's a T&A bill for some shirts there too :o, I realised I needed to leave it for today and come back to it tomorrow. All in all, it was a really expensive month for clothes, though the first time in a long time I've bought clothes for myself. Fortunately, July is almost fully updated and whilst I need to buy a few more items of clothing in August, that should be the last month for a while.

My father is in regular contact with the medical profession. He has a few ongoing conditions which require monitoring / treatment which mean he is monitored.

I didn't turn a hair or raise an eyebrow or react in any way when I read about the watches. We know you although I can see why a casual reader might be surprised.

It's a positive that your father is engaging with counselling. Even if another diagnosis is confirmed at a later date he certainly wants to talk (as you know only too well ) so talking to a professional has to be a benefit to you both!

When do you leave for Spain?:)

Not sure whether you've read this Alex? It may help you to guard against excessive workload.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-inspection-handbook-from-september-2015/ofsted-inspections-mythbusting

Of course, you will have to work within school policies and be subject to closer monitoring in the coming two years until you achieve QTS but that's meant to be supportive (and complain like mad if it's not!!);).

    Thanks, maman. :)

We're going to Spain two weeks on Friday.

I've not seen the government publications re. inspections but have seen quite a few infographics with such information. Good to know it is official rather than just something going around the internet. I've had my induction and visited my school five times. Also had my first INSET day. To be honest, I'm a little apprehensive about September but also rather excited; seems like a fresh start for me. However, the realisation is dawning and I'm concerned that this is perhaps unfair to my son / parents.

Unfortunately, at times I wonder if I'm better at procrastination than I am at being productive. :o

Yes, my father wants to talk and has done for a while. He's been saying some out of character things to me recently; proud to call me his son etc. Mother thinks him saying such things is absolute proof he's "losing his mind". Not really nice to listen to mother telling me the only reason my father could "possibly think that way" is because he's "losing his mind". I actually hope the medical profession is right and my father is trying to change his views about parenthood. It would be nice to think he is happy with me as a son.

Alex, you are doing so well, please be proud of yourself.

I have no doubts that you will become an excellent teacher. You show compassion and you really try to see the best in people. That is an art in itself. Pity there were not more people like you. As for feeling guilty about working and caring for the family you will cope. You have that determination within you to succeed. That will show your son how strong a person you are and I am sure your parents will be very proud of you.

As for selling things you will succeed there too, you have done it before and will continue to do it again.

I do hope you, your wife and son will have a wonderful holiday and enjoy spending quality time together.

    Take care

    Thank you, both. :)

I want to be able to move on from a very difficult time in my life. Mrs. K. thinks the good times are due and we are going to have a better decade than the last. I hope so. :)

Unfortunately, I have not always thought about others or wanted to make any kind of a difference. I've spent the majority of my life not being kind or compassionate in any way. I won't be working with the boy I helped to learn to enjoy reading but at the end of our very last session he gave me a card that he'd made during his lunchtime and asked for me to write a list of books I think he'd like to read for the coming year. That meant an awful lot to me, knowing I've had a positive impact on his life.

Done some work towards getting a few things ready for sale today. Need to get back on the MSE trail!

Doing better checking in each evening but wondering if I should look at this in the morning too as it may put me in the mindset to be productive rather than go out with my son all day in the cars and dog walking! :)

    August Targets:

Summer holiday plans: 1. Trip to R.W. 2. Holiday. 3. Agricultural shows x 3. Saw my in-laws this evening and organised R.W. trip. They mentioned Christmas ... yes, you read that correctly  and mentioned they'd like to see us which makes things difficult.

Don't put off spending time with your son (or dog). Enjoy it while you can and hopefully with Mrs K as well over the weekend.

Why would it be difficult to see the in-laws over Christmas?

The time you spend with your son is very valuable. Try to include your wife too. It will help with your wife bonding more with your son.

Here is a suggestion.......How would it be if your wife and son did something together over the weekend, it would then free up time for you to sort the stuff you need to sell. You could explain to your son that you need to do this to help you all as a family.

I think that spending Christmas with the in-laws would be excellent for you as a family. It would show them that you are a "changed" person for the better.

It would also allow your wife and son to see you as a whole family. I know you panic a bit in their company, but they have surely seen for themselves you are a loving husband and father and they want to enjoy the company of you all.

Have a good weekend whatever you do.

    Take care

Xmas negotiations often start early in our house Alex, August is fairly late :rotfl:

Can you see both sets of parents? Yours in the morning for a nice breakfast and the rest of the day at the Inlaws?

What would littlek like to do most of all? It's always a minefield and you can't please everyone!
