Exciting news about pony club.
I think you just pick the branch you fancy and ring the District Comissioner (boss, one per branch) then fill forms in.
I have been looking at pics of DD2 at mini camp. She did it on a borrowed pony with one eye. The really inspiring thing about it was that ten of the kids who had done senior camp (13 and 14 year olds) lead reined the minis.
You would not have known they weren't 18-so mature and so kind and patient, including the boys. Plus you get built in role models.

I'm glad things seem to be falling into place for you Alex, it's liberating to free yourself of the worry about other people's expectations of you. You can do whatever you want!
Thanks, NG.
Not had a great day today. Got to sleep at a sensible time last night and had c. 6 hours sleep but have felt like I've had no sleep for a couple of days today. Had a splitting headache all day and managed to injure my hand winding up a rear window from the driver's seat yesterday. My son and I were meant to be going to another show but we didn't go in the end as I didn't feel up to driving. However, bed at 11 tonight and tomorrow is another day.
You're right about expectations. I've spent so long trying to live up to my parents' expectations but nothing is ever good enough for them. Nothing ever will be and I don't really think that's my fault.smallholdingsister wrote: »Exciting news about pony club.

Really fab.
There's a few fairly local branches but I think we've picked.
Mini camp sounds amazing.Did many boys participate? I'm rather glad my son is into riding as everyone we've met so far has been most welcoming and keen to encourage him. My in-laws have already got a lovely grooming kit to give to him for his birthday (November, far too organised if you ask me!).

It is mostly girls but there are boys in all age groups and the boys don't seem to mind being surrounded by girls from 5 right through to 14 or so.0
-
I thought that'd be the case.
Personally, I can't say I care about how many girls / boys are doing an activity, though whilst I've no doubt my son will enjoy being surrounded by girls at 14 or so, I appreciate it could be more difficult before then for him. At the moment he doesn't care whether his friends are girls or boys and I hope he stays that way.
Terrible night's sleep. Went to bed early but was awake at 2am and struggled to get back to sleep. No bad headache though and have managed to take my son horse riding. Apparently, we're going swimming and 'exploring' tomorrow. At least he's keeping me fit. :rotfl:
Financially, we're spending too much but that was expected for this month. However, we should reach our OP target. Next month I think we're going to try to have a cheap one as we'll all be busy and it would be nice to make a larger OP. Also need to do more decluttering and put some £££s in the savings. Only other thing to report is I'm prepping the TR6 for sale over the next few weeks and we'll be getting the roof done. I'll be sad to see it go but we've got others and there comes a time when you need to be grown up about things once in a while.
Apologies for my writing today, can hardly concentrate.2018 totals:

I'm starting to see that not everyday is going to be great and I cannot let the bad days pull every other day down... or my parents for that matter.slowlyfading wrote: »:j :j :j :j

Thank you, SF.
May need some advice re. PGCE over the next few months. After all the toing and froing over this or studying for a PhD, open days, school experience and some rather serious discussions with my wife, I've decided I'm going to apply this year for Sept. 2017.

Hi Alex, I've lurked on your diary for a while but wanted to comment that it's great to read your latest posts.
Have a fab day out with your son today. He is a similar age to my youngest and it truly is wonderful seeing the world through their eyes. I often want to freeze time.
Enjoy the rest of the holidays with him.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
