Sounds like a good first day Alex
The interview was I think on (you won't have heard of this) Lorraine's morning show on itv last week, sorry off to work so no time to google it

Great news about your marriage. I am sure that has no relation to your standing your ground with your parents *whistles*
So your MIL is no angel either?! My mum wouldn't dare say that to me, though she would chunter to my dad about it.
How are the Labrabears? They must be quite grown up now.0 -

Sounds like a lovely day Alex
Slightly off topic but I've been a long time reader of your diary and I'm always surprised that you didn't consider home-schooling your son. When you talk about all the things you teach him and all the activities you do, I can just imagine it being a perfect fit for you.Mortgage - £105,5000 -

Thanks, NG.
I wound up having another terrible night's sleep (couldn't sleep until 3.30am), so today has been another quiet one apart from having to deal with some business matters.
Son and I did manage to at least get to the library. We're doing the summer reading challenge again which happens to be Roald Dahl this year as it's his centenary.
No, never heard of it. Sorry, I was being rather dumb I presumed you'd read the interview. Hadn't imagined "saw" was literally saw on TV.smallholdingsister wrote: »Great news about your marriage. I am sure that has no relation to your standing your ground with your parents *whistles*

:rotfl: I'm sure it hasn't.
My mother-in-law is certainly no angel. :rotfl: To be honest, I thought it quite funny... they blamed my wife because they "expected no better" of me.
Labrabears are doing very well, thank you. Yes, they're all grown up now and coming up to being 15 months old. My son is inseparable from ours. We talked about going abroad during October half term but he was very upset about the prospect of having no dog for a week! I can't imagine not having her now, to be honest.slowlyfading wrote: »The first day of the holidays sounds wonderful

Thank you.
I very seriously considered home-schooling and would've loved the opportunity to. However, my wife was very against this.
I still take my son's education very seriously and have devised a holiday curriculum for him. Alongside reading, writing and maths work, we're going to be looking at materials and fabrication in the garage, a composer study looking at Vivaldi's life and works and a local history project looking at life during the Industrial Revolution here in Derbyshire.2018 totals:

:rotfl: I doubt I'll be planning so much for summer when my son is the same age as your children, NG.... he's hardly going to want to go to a museum or do some academic work with his Dad rather than see his friends, is he? Hoping he'll want to build a car with me, though.2018 totals:

Summer Holiday: Day 4.
The past few days have gone by very quickly as son and I have been busy making ££££s... will teach him to be a responsible adult yet. We've added £1060 to the savings, quite pleased things are starting to look a bit healthier there now. Fellow MSE'ers will be pleased to hear that for my son's Maths work we've been looking at money by playing speed shop in the garage. :rotfl:
My worksheet was possibly the coolest to date and lead to my son being interested enough for us to spend a few hours looking at how various parts work.
Very much looking forward to tomorrow because my wife has the day off work and we're going away for two nights as a family.Ready made excuse for no Sunday lunch this week but son and I have been packing all day and have a very full car ... for two nights. Proof I clearly can't live lightly. :rotfl: When we get back OP target for August will be set. It will be a fairly expensive month due to my son and I having quite a few outings, though.
