    I think it's amazing!!:T

It also seems a (relatively) harmless bit of fun that's getting people out and about. My DGD sent me a What'sApp message yesterday to show me the one she'd captured in her mum's car:D.

It's certainly took us to some different places to find them. :) My son loves exploring, so it's a nice activity along with his wildlife spotting.

Don't know how old your granddaughter is but if whatsapp is the one that deletes as soon as it's read, I'd be asking your son / daughter to be watching what she's doing on there very carefully. Could be snapchat I'm thinking of but can never remember which one it is. There's been a lot of problems at the secondary school I volunteer at and my old prep with one of the apps. Fortunately no issues with new volunteer primary or my son's school. So far as the kids are concerned I'm officially "old" after calling it "whatschat". :o

As you didn't get out yesterday Alex, I'm assuming that means you didn't get to have roast beef and all the usual trimmings that go with that (and I'm not talking about Yorkshires and horseradish);). I admire you hugely for sticking to your guns and not apologising when you're not the one in the wrong. Whatever happens, please don't spend big chunks of LittleK's break dragging him off to the big house. Aside from the reasonable amount of treats and walks planned he needs to be at home with his dad (and mum when available).

No Sunday lunch yesterday, no "trimmings" either. ;) :rotfl: It's difficult to be honest. I've not fell out with my parents like this since I stopped speaking to them in my 20s. Didn't have any business dealings with them back then though. Whilst I can't bring myself to apologise, I'm constantly on edge about whether I should or not.

Can't see us seeing my parents much this summer. My wife has got a couple of days off over summer and so far she's saying she's going to spend them at home. For the majority of summer, son will be at home helping me prep some motors for sale. :D

On the subject of MrsK's job, it does sound that if they're not advertising the colleague's job then there must be less work available. If that's not the case and MrsK really can demonstrate that her workload has increased by 100% then she needs to talk to her employers.

Hope you're having a better day today Alex and the sun's shining on you.

Her workload has definitely increased by a significant amount. I think until the current projects are over, she's not really going to know by how much. The ex-colleague basically did very little over his notice period and has left a lot of things that should've been finished which isn't helping the situation. My wife is currently getting quite a lot of upset from clients over the fact things are behind and their point of contact has gone.

Having a lot better day today, thank you. :) I know I've got to stop letting my problems with depression / anxiety take over my life, really does seem the more I give in to it the worse it gets. The weather is beautiful here today. :D:D Parents are annoyed about the Bakewell traffic situation ... (market day plus good weather = havoc), probably more annoyed I didn't let them rant by directing them straight back to business. :rotfl:
I went mad for it for a week, but then remembered that I was a grown man :rotfl:

As I say to my pupils, don't worry about "growing up" as the toys just get bigger. :D Don't tell them it's the bills / life / responsibility that kills it though.

Not sure whether this is positive or not?! :rotfl:

My son hasn't had much exposure to technology and after attending his progress evening, I realise he's "behind". I also realised that he is of the internet age as he cannot comprehend pre-internet ways. I suppose it was a bit of a shock to find but as much as I've shielded him from the computer, he is much more aware of it than I thought. My attitude towards it needed to change; I use the computer for all kinds of things and it is a very useful part of life. I realise it's something he needs to learn how to use and if that includes some fun games, that's OK. :)

    Definitely a positive change Alex.:)

I'm so glad you've realised that LittleK needs to be as up to speed in IT as he is in English or maths. They're all tools for accessing learning. What matters is that he (or you at this stage in his life) is in control and that computer/ipad/phone isn't taking over and removing balance from his life. I suppose the comparison I could make is when I used to read Enid Blyton under the covers at night with a torch when I was at primary school. Spoilsport parents wanted me to sleep!:D

Thanks for the concern but AFAIK WhatsApp is a harmless alternative to texting. I think young people like it because it has a good range of emoticons but I find it easier to add in photos than with an ordinary SMS message. It is possible to set up groups to chat amongst yourselves (my DH has one with his tour guide group) but I'm not involved in that. If you download the app it automatically tells you which of your contacts are on Whatsapp.

I can see why MrsK would want to use her days off at home with the family but it would be good if she got involved in one or two adventures too. I do hope her job settles after this initial 'clearing up' process.

I can hardly keep up now - what with selling cars, music for school, decluttering and now waxing the furniture and saving some ££'s - you must feel so good. And your getting good weather, well I think our summer is tomorrow :p followed by thunder & lightening storm :( well actually :) cause I love watching the lightening.

    You deserve some playtime :D

My son doesn't have any technology of his own and that's something I still feel quite strongly about. I'm happy for him to access it at the right times but in my opinion he doesn't need a computer of his own (including ipads / 'phones) until he is older.

Fair enough re. whatsapp. Not something I've any desire to personally download, probably because I've got no friends. It must be snapchat which deletes after reading.

By being "at home" I meant my wife so far hasn't planned to spend her time off with friends or go away on holiday. I too hope her job settles. She was a bit happier tonight which is a good sign. :)

:rotfl: I try to keep busy. Not feeling particularly good, to be honest but trying to keep as positive as is possible. I am pleased with the work that's been done and the rising savings.

We have been lucky with the weather today and should be tomorrow. I too like to watch storms and should clear the air a little (it's been very hot here today).

Never too old for playtime... ;).

Cannot believe that we have made it to the summer holidays! :D My son and I have made it through his first year at school. This time a year ago, I was dreading him going but over this year he's grown in all kinds of ways and I have managed to start to let him have a little more freedom, which my wife thinks is good for me. She's also started showing much more of an interest in our son. :) I'll admit from a selfish point of view I wish he could stay the four year old he was a year ago, purely because keeping him entertained greatly helped my state of mind and gave me a purpose. However, it is wonderful to see him progress and reach new milestones in life. I embarrassed him (and myself) again today by getting a bit emotional at the end of year assembly. :o

Had a difficult week with an ongoing business issue. It has been resolved but I've had sleepless nights over it and realised I'm not really a mercenary person. My wife has been working very long hours but said she's starting to get through some of the work her old colleague should have done before leaving.

Finances are getting towards target for this month which is nice to see. I actually don't always dread logging into my online banking anymore. :)

Blimey Alex, you wait for the day it's the leavers assembly! Both years my three left junior school they were in the leavers play that day and two of them had main parts in it, I was a mess by the time they actually left school :rotfl::rotfl:

    Have a fantastic summer :D

    Thank you, AFK. :)

Summer has been with us this weekend; we've been busy prepping cars and going to a show. Next weekend, we're going racing. :D

I almost bought myself a nice Triumph Bonneville today . The long and short of it was my wife got her BSA out for the first time in ages, son and I followed in the GT6 and I got a little bit envious and decided I wanted a 'bike again ... A lovely '68 Bonneville was there but we couldn't agree a price in the end. :( Think I'll get myself one when the TR is sold ... so much for having a dry house, eh? ;) :rotfl:

NG, what can I say? It's not my son's fault he has a pathetic father. It's not the first time and I doubt it will be the last. :o

    :rotfl: Thanks, smallholding. :)

I had my father on the 'phone this evening. Apparently, it's time I stopped being a "silly child" and "must" go to see them tomorrow. This is because we didn't have lunch with them again.:rotfl:
