  • Is this going to turn into an android v windows v iOS debate?

I also have a Mac computer as I prefer the way it works over a PC.

Yup - I took grumbler's comment as an opinion; it's a wrong opinion, but he helped me save some money, so what the hey.

So what are you doing with the money you have saved from this advice?

    I have no idea.

Depends if someone decides to take the thread down that path.

Not sure what your choice of computer had to do with a mobile phone discussion

Apart from the login in to secure systems I can do all the above on an Android or Windows phone.

Is the secure login in specific to iOS?
I listed that in response to the assertion that it's a toy, as opposed to espousing the iPhone per-se.

In my case, whether things work on Android or Windows Phone are irrelevant, as I said in the OP.

Well, it's just money in the pot, rather than something tangible.

    Thanks for that.

I just wondered if the iphone was unique in offering that facility as you mentioned that you had not found anything as "complete" as the iphone.

I do appreciate that involves the user experience as well as the functions and can understand your view of it as the most "complete" device.

It's all about personal perception. A friend of mine spends a lot of money on his toy. A sailing boat. As I'm not into sailing I can't puzzle out why he spends so much on it and why one rope is better than another.

A few of our friends go to the Alps in the winter, they tie pieces of wood to their feet and then slide down on the snow to the bottom of the hill.

A most bizarre hobby IMHO :D

Sure, there are one or two other features too:
    • My iPhone texts also come up on my Mac and iPad, which means I can send texts as if they were on my phone.
    • My apps work on the phone and my iPad.
    • It feels like quality, unlike some.
As far as my opinion on other than the iPhone:

    1. I have an Android phone, but it's not as good as an old iPhone 4 and there seems to be an issue with its charging.
    2. I've used a Windows phone and it was really quite horrible. Actually my last employer rolled them out and I bought a used iPhone 4 and swapped the SIM to that.
In my case, I have a load of iPhone apps (though many more than I actually use!), spare chargers, cables, iTunes already in use, etc. I momentarily toyed with the idea of getting something else, but nothing really caught my eye and I decided to stick with Apple.

I'm sure other people think differently, but I'd already made the choice before this thread, so the option was go SIM-only and stick with my iPhone 5, or get a new 6.

After a few days use of my iPhone 6, all I can say is that it's like the 5 but better in every way (well except I stuck with the same memory size); I guess that's pretty much it really...

    I would agree, having gone from a 5s to a 6, (except I bought 16GB and then returned for a 64GB).

I stuck with 64, as I didn't really want to spend the extra for 128GB.
