It's good that you hand out coupons, etc, to people on here, and because of that I'll probably get replies telling me I'm wrong for saying this, but I class it as theft though if you're using coupons, then returning items for the full refunds. I hope you're found out and banned from the store (honestly).
We all have different cut off points with what we feel is legitimate and fair and I don't really want to be judgemental as most of us know full well that we are exploiting the voucher policy and are lucky to get away with it (well, mostly get away with it!)
However, I have to admit that I'm with laffers on this one - exploiting a very generous policy and dramatically reducing the cost of our shopping is on the OK side of my line - buying stuff just for points or money off when we have no intention at all of keeping the goods and taking it straight back for a refund (especially when the refund is more than we paid even before coupon usage) certainly seems VERY 'iffy' to me. I suspect that the OP WILL be rumbled and banned - or even have their points confiscated. I don't think its worth the risk.ELITE 5:2

I agree - we all like a bargain and as long as we are sensible there is enough for us all to benefit - but using tons of mocs and then returning items for full price refunds cosses the line for me I'm afraid.....it will all end in tears...prob ours when Tesco clamp down0

Maybe I will just leave the money saving expert forums alone for a while and keep my good fortune to myself. If you and a few others had a crappy life like I do ( an alcoholic husband and £62000 of debt!!) then maybe you would not be so quick to criticise me. I gave away 6 lots of vouchers last week ( and did not ask for stamps or envelopes in return ) and am always quick to share a deal if I come across one. I dont have much to enjoy in my life but saving a bit of money here and there always gives me a bit of a buzz. I dont drink or smoke so maybe Tesco shopping is my vice. I am deeply hurt that people think they have the right to criticise me and as for banning me from the store get real Tesco dont give a stuff. I am off to bed now to have a good cry as things are not good at home at present but at least I will have my trip to London to look forward ( and I will see my son who lives there ) and my £1.00 hotel room ( or maybe I am not entitled to that either!!)
I can see both sides of the argument but if you do it too often the Tesco police will catch you out and you may end up getting banned, i hope you're not using your clubcard as well. From reading threads on here and PTS people who use too many MOC's draw attention to themselves especially if its the same store, so be careful.0 -

Rose, I'm sorry you're having a hard time but, in all honesty, none of us are ENTITLED to gain by exploiting Tesco's very generous coupon policy - we are all just darn lucky that we get away with what we do. We all know we are exploiting the policy and Tesco usually turn a blind eye.
I don't think any of us are being overly critical of what you are doing - just suggesting that you are maybe being silly to take it as far as you do and expect to go on without Tesco catching on and sorting you out bigtime ! If you deliberately buy items just to use vouchers with the full intention of returning them next day but expecting to keep the points or extra money saved on the vouchers you ARE setting out with the premeditated intention of defrauding Tesco and they WILL catch you doing it sooner or later. You stand to lose quite a lot in the way of perks and, from what you've said, you really don't need the extra hassle. Just be careful and don't do something silly which will get you into a lot of trouble.ELITE 5:2

I am sorry I ever posted anything on here now. I think everyone is getting a bit paranoid here. Tesco's are a billion pound company who wont even notice a few coupons going through. It is all about getting people in the store and therefore it works. It seems to be ok for people to use Daily Mail money off coupons, pick up handfuls of MOC coupons to sell on E-Bay etc but when I used 3 £6.00 vouchers I am being accused of fraud. Next time there are money off coupons I wont dare to print what deals I get on here. Using a Daily Mail MOC coupon is fraud when you haven't bought the item and one of the people who criticised me had 16 of them!!! Anyway rant over I suppose I should expect nasty people on here as in life.
Rose, you really are reading too much into this. Nobody has accused you of fraud for using the £6 vouchers ! All we have said is that using them (or any other voucher for that matter) with the preconceived plan of taking the item back and getting a full refund the next day WILL be interpreted by Tesco as the intention to defraud them. Basically you are converting a coupon - which is supposed to have no monetary value outside of the correct purchase - into £6 cash in hand. You can dress it up how you like but it remains a cunning plan to extract money from Tesco and you are kidding yourself if you think they won't care and will let you go on doing it.
The whole business of using MOCs is a grey area as the coupons say on the back that attempting to use them against any other product is not allowed/illegal/fraud etc. Most of us probably hand over the coupons, act a bit dumb and let the CA (or the till) decide what Tesco will accept - and then kid ourselves that, if anyone is acting illegally, its Tesco not us. For various good marketing reasons Tesco are currently happy to let us do that. But they will not apprecciate or turn a blind eye forever to anyone who takes items back like you or uses high value out of date coupons or high value coupons from other supermarket chains (I'm thinking of all the £5 Somerfield booze coupons from last Christmas).
I personally don't hope that you will be banned from your local store - but I do hope that you see sense and stop laying yourself wide open . I don't think anyone has been unpleasant to you over this - just pointed out that what you are doing is (in our opinion) not quite right. Also, if you insist on carrying on, you are right to say you won't make posts about what youn are up to on here - you may think Tesco are too big to bother about it but the DO read and act on info from these sites (you only have to consider what happened with R&R to realise that). And if you think people on here are being nasty to you - just wait until Tesco catch up with you !
Thats my final comment on this - do what you like but just be aware of the likely consequences.ELITE 5:2

After not finding any smiling SA's in the first store i visited i moved on to another where i had to use a "new face"....unfortunately (for the first time in ages) i got stopped on a 1 coupon only policy.....As i was only testing the water with a £10 shop, it wasn't so bad...but decided to give up and go home....Ending on a failure has never happened to me, so swung the car round and headed to a store some 15 miles away and one which i had had varying successes in.
Decided that as it wasn't a regular store, to just try my luck with a £40 "Dove" shop........no problem...quite a "happy scanner"....Told him i thought i would be sent straight back for more, he just smiled.
After checking my remaining coupons realised i had enough for £60 worth....so did 6 Dove Pro age and 6 Body Silk tubs and 2 x 29p toothpastes......I must have miscounted my coupons as my bill came to £1.65 (was 1 x £1.25 short).............but just wanted to get out with my stuff.
Got outside and found another 2 quits and one SB in my pocket...but decided to call it a night.
For once i have to admit(yes I'm getting soft) that I'm looking forward to a few days off................Ive really worked hard on this last spree..........and my ceiling's appear to be creaking a bit under the strain of my loft full of goodies.Couponing....."every little hurts"

I think there has been a bit of unpleasantness, hoping that someone gets banned, isnt very pleasant.....as it should be "Each to their own"

Fair point Leadhead - I've probably got a thicker skin than Rose (I did say that I DIDN'T want her to get banned tho!). I took the OP's comments to be a friendly warning rather than blatant critisism - and my own comments were meant in the same vein. Rose clearly has other major problems at home and I would hate her to get into an embarrassing and possibly expensive (from the points, money saving angle) situation with Tesco. They can be very nasty and Rose just doesn't need any more hassle.ELITE 5:2

In the time since I found this thread, ( oh joy ! ) there have always been Quit to combine with the vouchers that come and go. Now that they have gone, will there ever be ''free'' toiletries again, or just ''money off'' ? To all you regular posters, thank you so much. My ceiling isn't creaking under the weight. but I do have enough to keep my family going for a couple of years!0

We used to get the "ethics" debate on the Boots Grabbit thread too. It used to bore me rigid! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
