Thanks for all your comments, the situation at 11pm last night was a line of seventeen vehicles all parked opposite the end of my drive which were all collected between 2am and 3am this morning,as you will appreciate when the screen are iced over its great when those Diesel engines are left running to defrost the screens.
A neighbour of mine confronted a number of the drivers the other day,it was a waste of time because they did not speak English,
May i recommend the google translate app..brilliant..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Hmmm. Shame you didn't object to the planning consent when the industrial estate was built.0

For the sensible people on here I will give you an update
The Police have now got involved because last Thursday we had 42 vans parked all over the place.
At the end of my drive there was one van on the opposite side of the road and two vans either side of our drive completely blocking my vision of traffic coming both ways.
The local authority are also looking into the companies activities because they may be infringing the regulations for what the premises have planning for.0 -

As has been said on what grounds.
An industrial estate can mean anything from lock ups and workshops, to small businesses selling goods, to manufacturing, and 300 yards isn't that close to such an estate.
There are about 6 large industrial estates in my town, one has a courier firm operating out of it.
Oddly enough none of the businesses operating out of the estates AFAIK have dozens of vehicles they leave parked up on nearby residential estates.
It's a problem with the specific company, not the industrial estate
My advise to the op would be in line with making a complaint to the local council, checking the DVSA licence (and a complaint to them), the police if there is illegal parking going on etc etc.
By the sounds of it the company is probably breaching some of the conditions it's meant to be working under, as typically most businesses that have a lot of vehicles tend to either be expected to have parking for them on site, or be expected to have the vehicles going home with the drivers, not just parked up en mass on residential streets where they are a nuisance and a potential danger to others.
If nothing else I suspect if as the op says the drivers are ignoring street signs/traffic lights on a regular basis and there has been a collision the police and the DVSA may be interested in doing some observations and checks on the state of the vehicles, licences and insurance - it sounds very much like the company is being run by cowboys, or at the very least the owners are turning a blind eye to problems and bad driving (so the chances are fairly good the DVSA or Police will find something amiss).0 -
Contact the local paper, they love a good story like this, especially if you can get some good photos of 42 vans all over the place!Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Start a 'bad parkers' website or FB page and post-up details of all the vehicles.
If they are liveried, then this may well embarrass the owners enough to do something about it.
Failing that, you can buy nails in bulk fairly cheaply these days and the boxes are not that well constructed, so may spill some of their contents on the road as you walk past the vans.
No need for that. Just let all the tyres down and stick some gummed A4 paper all over the windscreens and side windows with a polite notice not to park there again. Tyres will take some time to pump up and the glue off the gummed paper is a biitch to shift.
You will have to do that twice at the most.0 -

Well they could not do it round my way because it is a residents only (and their visitors) parking zone. If you are not displaying an official permit you get booked.
If it is causing this amount of trouble, I would campaign for the council to designate the road for residents parking only and tell the vans they have to stay in their trading estate. (As again they did in a trading estate near us.)
I think you need to focus on your local councillor, the council's transport planners and get coverage in your local paper/on local website.0 -
I've just had my car blocked in on my drive all day today due to house opposite having a skip. Luckily the skip company came and removed it when I phoned them. They weren't going to at first claiming they had a skip permit (yeah right, no safety features installed at all). They tried to claim that the skip driver says there was no car there when they dropped the skip off. If that was the case then how on earth did I get my car onto my drive then.0
