We live on an estate and about 300 yards away is a small industrial estate, just lately we are being plagued by white vans parked all over the estate, half on the road and half on the pathway.
A few months ago a new delivery company rented one of the units and it seems it operates approx 60 white vans, I think they deliver papers from 4am in the morning and then mid morning the vans are dumped all over the place.
The driving standards are terrible, last week two of the vans had an head on collision outside my house, one of them jumped a red light.
It will not be long before a child is maimed or killed given the speed these morons drive at,the whole area is gridlocked with these bloody vans any idea what action can be taken,if any.
I just cannot understand why the drivers do not take the vehicles home instead of dumping them

  • Report them to the Police for the poor driving.

If the vans are taxed, insured and MOT'ed they can be parked where ever they like as long as it isn't on a double yellow line etc. If the vans are parked blocking pavements, inform the Police or council.

They dont take them home because the companies insurance probably doesnt cover that.

And if they did the driver may not have a parking space suitable for a van.

Take photos of any bad parking and send to the council and the company involved. The council may agree to implement parking restrictions if the problem is significant and enough people complain
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

I am surprised that courier companies can just park their vans on the public road. Surely there is a case for the business using the public roads as its overspill

I know that councils dont like used car dealers using public roads as their forecourts and lots of councils have clamped down on that.

i thinkj it's a cxase of getting enough of your neighbours to contact your council and complain about it.

Councils can dislike anything they like, but if a used car dealer has taxed, mot'd and insured the vehicle they can pretty much sod off

Once again, people on this forum just make it up as they go along.

    http://www.slough.gov.uk/parking-travel-and-roads/nuisance-parking.aspx

    Nuisance parking is an offence.
If a proprietor of a business advertises cars for sale on the road they can be prosecuted by the council. On conviction they can be fined up to £2,500. The council may deal with the matter by issuing a £100 fixed penalty notice (£60 for early payment).

This offence targets people who run a business and use the road to store and advertise their vehicles. It is not intended to target occasional individual private sellers of single vehicles.

Seriously, it took about 2 seconds on Google to work out you're an idiot. Why do people post this crap? It's unhelpful and may well cause a huge amount of misery to someone putting up with anti-social behaviour from others.

As Mark Twain said, "Better to stay silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt".

Thanks for all your comments, the situation at 11pm last night was a line of seventeen vehicles all parked opposite the end of my drive which were all collected between 2am and 3am this morning,as you will appreciate when the screen are iced over its great when those Diesel engines are left running to defrost the screens.
A neighbour of mine confronted a number of the drivers the other day,it was a waste of time because they did not speak English,

We have a car-sales place in our small town and as well as cars on his forecourt he had cars parked along the road with the prices on the screen.

The house owners nearby complained to the police and the council with the result that he now has cars parked along the road but without prices on.

Where the law falls down is in the wording 'advertised for sale'.

The delivery vans don't appear to be breaking any laws except parking on pathways and/or obstruction.

It's the owner that needs to be put under pressure - not the drivers.

Try contacting the local council. Businesses may have to provide adequate parking for their vehicles.

That isn't really true. If they are parked anywhere on the highway, including the verge, they can be done for obstruction.

As I know fom bitter experience.
