Floss I read something in the Bolton News about them rerouting the trains from Blackpool to the Airport and them not coming through Bolton any more. Apparently the press release given to the BN about this came under the heading of "Improvements to Passenger Services from Bolton to Manchester."

I was leaving checking the trains until later while they sort it out as you can imagine there is a big stink about as Bolton needs an increase of a minimum of 1 extra per hour just to accommodate the people who buy season tickets never mind any increase of passengers there may be.

Oh I didn't see that NM... tbh it's a handy service for DH and for us - on at one end, off at the other.

I'll get that bus road ready, i can pick up the elephant on the way!

Feeling quite pleased with myself - I want to have the old, leaky conservatory demolished and have decking put down so I can sit outside. I've known that I had to apply for a demolition certificate but the paperwork seemed to be endless. Anyway, I've done it all on-line, just need to wait to see if it is correct. It's taken me nearly 6 months to do this, it has taken a great deal of procrastination and it only took about an hour!

Nursemaggie - do you really have to pay for check in if you do it on-line?

Yes Camelot I could not believe it. The problem is to do it on line I need to print my boarding pass.

We have a printer without ink. Every time you either move house or change internet providers you have to re-register the printer with the brand. You are not allowed to register one that is more than 10 years old. I know this one is nearly 20 years old. You cannot buy the ink off line you have to buy it direct from the brand. It only works when you are online and it just disables it if you use another brand. I don't think this should be legal as they are sell selling this model. I know it was bought from the old Commit about two years before they went bankrupt. You have to say where and when you bought it.

There's not much point in a printer with no ink. It would probably make sense to scrap it (freeing up space) as your flat is so small. And consider how much printing you are likely to need to do - if under £25/year then probably not worth buying one. But you should be able to get something for around that price. TBH the business model with printers and inks has been problematic for years, and is environmentally reprehensible. But a 20 year old printer would probably have issues with drivers and compatability with current operating systems and devices anyway.

No Greenbee it worked fine the last time I used it. I know I have to lie. The ink is more like £40 and I am unlikely to use it. I last used it just over 2 years ago when it ran out of ink. They are still selling the exact same model I could say I have just bought it.

I think we have now reached the stage when any law on purchasing anything is about 95% on the sellers side. It will get worse when we actually come out of the EU.

Nursemaggie - on a totally different subject! I have just had a leaflet about the Government Help to Heat scheme. I don't know if this would be of any use to you but if you are in receipt of any benefit they are giving grants of 100pct to replace inefficient electric storage heaters. Apparently it applies to home owners, landlords and tenants so may be worth investigating before the winter. HTH

NurseMaggie This is probably a daft question as you've no doubt already explored all options . Does your daughter nearby have a printer you could use ? I thought of printing shops but I imagine you wouldn't be secure using your card , Those shops seem to have gone anyway in this area , same with libraries which have been culled .
I think it's such a rip off with so called moneysaving flights .
Wrong that a brief respite somewhere warm should turn into a logistical nightmare .
I hope you manage to sort things if anyone has earned a respite from the problems of daily life it's you .
    Take care
