Sorry to be missing. Been moping about very upset Air Malta have cancelled my flight and will no longer flying out of Manchester Airport. Spent ages on the phone yesterday to Air Malta. I can either have my money back or they will fly me to Heathrow and then on to Malta or to another European city and fly on to Malta. What ever I have I have to change Terminals and hang around for at least 6 hours. None of his offers would get me there the same day I left home.
DD has suggested I get my money back as they will be coming to the UK in July. That will mean they will spend most of the time running around the country after SiLs big family and I will be lucky if I get and hour with DGS. Hardly a substitute for 2 weeks holiday in the sun.
DS is spending 8+ hours a day studying plus reading. He will be taking N3 in July. There are 5 levels in the Japanese language exams.
So glad everything is OK FPK.
Three quarters of my post has just been deleted leaving me with just an r.
8 weeks will soon pass Hester I recommend you have a charity phone number handy to get rid of anything you can't get rid of on your last day. "Emmaus" is a homeless charity that does up and sells furniture, BHF have furniture shops and there may be a Furniture project locally, they employ long term unemployed to do up furniture. All take stuff that does not need doing up.
Glad all are well.0 -
I've been to see the sea. And et a fish tea, a 99 cone, a stick of rock and a jam scone
Then I felt like a hippo on the back of the bike on the way home0 -
Oh nursemaggie, I was thinking about you earlier and realised you hadn't posted for a little while so wondered if you were okay. I'm so sorry to hear about your flights, that's rotten:(0
-
Nursemaggie, that is so disappointing. Would it be possible for you to travel back with your DD when she returns in July? At least you would have travelling companions on one way even if it was complicated on the way back. You would also get your 2 weeks in the sun and to see more of your DGS.
FBofO. I SAW YOU. You may not have noticed me. I was on the very tip of the island jumping up and down and waving my arms wildly. Well, I jumped up once and somehow made it back to earth, but my arms were much more enthusiastic.
Here's to 'me' time!
Well, Hester. This is it then. I do hope that someone smashed a bottle of fizzy water over the prow. I'd have done it myself if you guaranteed that you would present me with an appropriate posy and curtsey prettily.
Don't forget that we want a blow by blow account of your life aboard, including any disasters that occur. In fact we are particularly hot on the disasters, they will make us feel much less jealous.
DGS has landed and has already eaten 3 large meals with snacks in between to keep him from fainting with hunger. Both dogs went wild with ecstasy at the sight of him and Pickle has pronounced him "boring" as she tried, and failed, to interest him in her blow-up fairy castle.
I have retreated to my room to begin knitting chicks again!I believe that friends are quiet angels

That sounds a lovely idea monna but, it would probably entail spending a couple of weeks travelling around all of GB visiting SiL's family. They will be with a different airline and it could mean leaving from any airport in the UK but Manchester, from Perth in Scotland anywhere in the south.
I just feel like I have had a kick in the face. The thought of going next month was what has kept me going through all the sickness of going back on the tablets and the knowledge that I will not know if the treatment is working until 9th June. I could have known at the end of May but we changed the dates because of this non existent holiday.
I could scream louder than the painting "The Scream". Sorry!
I am beginning to think going to heathrow would be the best idea as at least I vaguely know my way round and they will speak English. It is most likely to be the most expensive. I can take a sandwich to Manchester, and eat a late lunch there and have a dinner at Heath Row.
Once I know exactly when I will arrive I can email DD to book me a taxi. because I know I will arrive in the middle of the night and she has to be up early to take DGS to school for 8am. It is a good hour's walk for him and he was way too heavy for his pushchair last year. You also have to go up and down two very steep hills.
I just thought I cannot possibly afford the flight during the main school holidays. We tried about six years ago in July and it was £750 each with the orange cheap flights company. We did not go. The following year DD bought me a ticket and I could not go I had just had Major surgery for my cancer.0 -
Nursemaggie, have you considered Jet2 for your flights to Malta?. I have just looked at their site and they have return flight departing Manchester in May with prices from £134 return plus luggage. I do hope you manage to get your holiday and that your treatment is working.0
-
Thankyou Loraca That would be cheaper than Air Malta. I was going to look at all flights tomorrow it has taken me a couple of days to get over the disappointment. I am having problems with some online purchases already and beginning to feel that no one who sells you anything has even 1 gram of honesty whatever you are paying for.0
-
mar I'm not surprised after that lot but I am sure that for once in your life you can get away with it. I hope you both had a lovely day.0
-
Sounds like a good day mar!
nursemaggie - try going into a travel agent, they should be able to get you the best deal.0
