  • Thanks lillibet. How long have you had it because as of last night their cheapest one was £150? At that price I would rather have a cheap smartphone. Which is what Life Hacks said. going to them was not much help they were asking others to advise them.

About 12 years ago I bought a Motorola for 19.99 with a free top up of £20 cost me -1p. Was sort of hoping for something like that it was so easy to use. It lasted me about 5 years until I lost it. Not bad for -1p.

Tesco have 3 PAYG phones for under £20. Here.
  • Thanks Gigervamp. I meant Nokia's cheapest basic phone was £150. I had a look at Tesco they are also only showing me only big button alarm phones. There must be a sign on my computer telling them I am over 90 and needs a BIG BUTTON ALARM PHONE.

I can be of no assistance with phones Nursemaggie. I am often mocked for mine. It cost me $50 and that was with $30 of credit included. Still, I think it's very modern compared to the old one. .. it has colour and everything!

  • NM Have a look at the basic Doro 5030 . I've been offline until last week for almost 2 months while bt struggled to fix the problem .
I bought the cheapest payg I could find to replace my old Nokia which had died in storage as I never need a mobile - just a back up .
I bought from Argos at a reduced price , you may find it on Amazon .
It's got slightly larger buttons than my old Nokia but the kids aren't calling it an old biddy phone as they did the Nokia . Keyboard lights up and very user friendly and kind to arthritic fingers .
I'm playing catchup on the threads but will be back .

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • Just checked Argos it's back to just under £40 I paid £10 less when it was on offer . Amazon are charging same as Argos for some reason reviews there are bad which isn't my experience . Good luck .

Thanks everyone. I think I will buy a Nokia as I have used them before we used to have them at work.

Would you believe I have a £20 Tesc0 card, had it well over a year. Our only Tesc0 is EXtra and way out of town. You can't get nearer than a mile away on public transport so we have not been there.

I can't find the B thing so I will have to start spring cleaning now. I have done about three hours today so better start again tomorrow. Better not do too much. I shall be mad if I have to pay cash having had it so long. I am glad a few other folks have pay as you go.

Pollyanna how have you managed without the internet for 2 months? I am bad enough if it goes off for half an hour. So glad you now have it back.
  • NM No landline or internet was a nightmare . The number of messages I had to listen to and act on or delete last week was unbelievable . Give bt their due it took a lot of visits , engineers and men digging holes left right and centre and must have cost them a fair bit . I must have used a few months worth of YTea but they deserved every last drop . The weird thing was not being able to Google which is my go to when something goes wrong . I really missed the threads and though I did make a handful of posts on os it was using someone elses landline and I didn't like to be cheeky .
I am sorry to read your recent news as I try to catch up , you've beaten it before so sending painless virtual hugs and strength your way . I hope your son is ok , I'm so far behind .

NurseMaggie I also have a PAYG phone but mine is so old it runs on steam! All the family have these phones that can do everything except make the tea and they keep trying to get me one for my birthday or Christmas. No thanks, I just want one to text or make a phone call, as the only people I call are mostly DH when we get separated while shopping. It's usually me that can't be seen as I'm vertically challenged !
Hope you find your Tesc0 card.

Mine was £10 on amazon. My family walk away if it rings in public and they see me reaching in my bag for it :D
