That is a lovely looking boat Hester, now I've managed to see it.

Mtstm, mri next for me. The doc didn't think lipoma, too big and spread, so we'll see.

The hound we were looking at adopting has been adopted elsewhere. We're happy she has a nice home, but sad too.

Wcs, don't tempt NurseMaggie with the junk shop, unless you can help her carry it home ;)

Nursemaggie, I love your idea of a global research organization. Research needs funding for diseases that aren't common or fashionable. Here in Queensland a lot of great work is being done, but I wonder what they could do with more.

Nursemaggie - what an excellent idea! As you say drug companies spend millions developing drugs but they tend to concentrate on the ones that will give them the most profit (used to work for a large international co) A cure for type 1 diabetes has been going on for years. Some drugs do have beneficial side effects. The dreaded Thalidomide is being used for some cancers as it stops the development of new blood vessels thus starving the cancer. I think that the research for less common complaints often comes off the back of a side effect of another drug.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Nursemaggie, yes I know what you mean about side effects from the treatment, she has had to reduce the metformin from what they were trying initially due to the diarrhoea, but given she's on no other treatments now than the trial drugs and 3 successive scans are showing shrinkage she's doing her best to keep going with it. It's not a cure, sadly, nothing will be, but she's convinced it's bought her more time with her young daughter.

My very best wishes to you.
