Well, I entertained the wives (apparently they used to be called "young wives" but that was a long time ago and they refuse to be called "old wives") for an hour.

In desperation I talked to them about my school, told them funny stories about the children, funnier stories about the parents and downright hilarious stories about the staff.
I told them about the nature walks which had never been 'risk assessed' and that were neither healthy nor safe and that if I was still teaching I would probably be in prison by now.

They seemed to enjoy it and asked me if I would go again.

Drat!!!

Then I came home and had THE conversation with DS and DIL.
All well. I have free rein to declutter, putting everything that doesn't seem to have a purpose into bin bags and every evening they will go through the bags finding homes for things that must be kept and chucking the rest.
We have decided on an Eastate Agent and will have the house on the market by the end of February.

I am so grateful to you all for your input. I was really floundering there for a bit..

That is good news Monna. I'm pleased to hear you have come to an agreement with DS and DIL.

You had some wonderful advice from your friends on here, and whilst I don't know the background to your story Fuddle had me nodding in agreement.

Good luck with it all and fingers crossed you get an offer on your house soon so you can all move on happily.

And congrats on your talk to the wives..sounds like it went well if they have asked you back

Oh monnagran that's good to hear. Of course there will be hiccups along the way (as in them wanting to keep everything, or deciding they are too tired to go through today's bags but they really will do two days' bags tomorrow, honestly.....) but it will be sorted in the end. We will all be cheering you on and sending you love and strength :j

Well I think it would be more fun to throw the family into the cellar, but if you really insist on being nice then throw the bin bags in there. You are just no fun!

DH has just gone down to the club to help lift my new engine into my boat so I'm somewhat excited. - I WILL be over to the IoW this year Monna to persuade you to have a few sherbets with me in the Pilot.
