Just heard that my aunt died at 11am this morning. TBH although I'm sad it wasn't unexpected and she had no life to speak of for quite a while. So no commiserations chums.
Off to wallow in my bathroom with a stiff drink xx

Fair enough for no commiserations. I'll join you in a stiff drink though if you fancy company?

silvasava: I think quite often the end comes as a relief. Sad for those left behind but a merciful release for the person themselves.
A stiff drink sounds like a good idea.

When I get sluggish it's because I'm low on potassium, I've been eating a banana a day for the last 2 weeks.
Today they seem to have worked, despite babysitting last night and getting home late, so far I have decluttered another cupboard, looked after 3 DGD's aged 9, 6 & 2, vacuumed upstairs, make cakes with the DGD, stripped the bed and remade it, done 3 loads of washing, sorted out 2 bags of paperwork, cooked 4 meals (some for lunches next week) got the DGD that is staying the night, off to bed, read her a story, tidied up and now I'm going to carry on with DD's mandala waistcoat (pic on my blog) with a little help from my friend YouTube, as the waistcoat pattern has stitches in that I'm not familiar with.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Thanks chums - yes it was a release for her. Sad for her hubby but a release for him too as he's been her carer 24/7 for the last 3 years. Just so glad I made the effort to see her last Wednesday.
Im on my third brandy ( medicinal you understand) and thinking of the good times as she was a big sister to me when I was little.

Merciful release sounds right to me. Cheers hunny.

Last weekend Hubs went away overnight with cricket friends so we decided he needed AA cover. Tried them all and AA was cheapest. Today he dropped me at the shops and went and picked Dd and the kids up to drop them off to meet a friend - then the car broke down  He limped it back to Dd's as he was close by and called AA. 30 minutes later the guy arrived and the car had fixed itself :o Turned out a clip or something on the clutch was loose. I walked back from the shops a long way in a lot of rain just in time to get in the car and be followed home by the AA man.

Luckily I hadn't done a big shop at Lidl which I usually do on A Saturday. When I got home I put my coat and all my clothes in the washer which was miraculously empty, redressed myself and wrapped up in a blanket. I have to say despite it all I am feeling very smart for getting the cover as this could have happened on the motorway which is at the end of our main road and we often use it to go to Dds as its convenient.

I hope you have good memories silvasava.

It has turned really cold here the past few days, yesterday saw sleety snow and it didn't really get light all day. I wasn't too bothered, just watched lots of episodes of Downton Abbey! Must stir my stumps today though, I have what seems like the world and his wife coming for Sunday dinner.

Glad you are at last feeling more human mar, long may it continue.

This question seemed most appropriate in this thread so here goes. Feel free to skip my inane ramblings :o

How do you motivate yourself when you feel down in the dumps, fed up and generally CBA?

It's my day off, the sun is shining, I have plenty of things I could/should be doing but I'm sat here in my PJ's surfing the interweb!!

It's so frustrating..I know I would feel better if I got dressed and went out but I can't seem to shift from the sofa.

Another question if I may. Whilst sat here I am watching a fly randomly, aimlessly fly at sharp angles around the centre of the room!!

Why do they do that?? No central light fitting and no other lights on. The window is open, yet there it is flying around at jerky angles oblivious to the fact it is driving me nuts!!

  • Karcher can you find a sheltered spot in your garden to sit in your pj's surfing the web?? I find that sometimes helps me to get up, dressed and back out again? Otherwise being in a sunny corner will help anyway :-)

I was just thinking of doing that thanks WCS:) At least that way I'll be getting some fresh air.

    karcher: Welcome to my world.

OK, so I need steroids (mar) and bananas (Hester) and a sunny spot to sit in. Well, it's blowing a gale and the rain is hammering down atm so not much hope there. Mar is keeping her steroids close to her chest, or wherever she hides them, and looking in the fruit bowl the bananas are either emerald green or black - tinged with mould green.

Ah well, another day of inactivity then.

I met my darling granddaughter on the landing when I finally got up this morning.

" Monna, did you have your hair cut yesterday?"

    " No."

    " Ah! Just messy then."

    Isn't she a treasure?
