Sounds like you're back on the merry go round Hester - why is common sense in such short supply in some areas? No don't answer that!!
DH has just helped me move our heavy bed so I can hoover the mountain of dust at the back of it. We've aired our new memory foam mattress and put that on and the old one is rolled up waiting to go to a good home.
Now just putting our bedding into the WM. Ive picked up a tip on one of the threads I follow.Instead of menu planning for a particular day I'm picking 7 dishes to be used in any order according to time & inclination! I'll see how this works for us.
Heard on the radio about an 80 year old lady who intends to walk 1000 miles this year - it breaks down to about 2.7 miles a day, but the 10,000 steps a day that is advocated for good health equates to about 5 miles a day!!! I think I'll try for the easier option first on the premise that something is better than nothing.
Have a good day all xx

Well the meeting was a giggle if nothing else, it seems our accounts department don't like processing invoices, awww diddums. It's part of their job for gawds sake..
So from now on I'm only allowed to place orders once every 2 months.
Problem, I order every 2 - 3 months as it is and the company I order from doesn't always carry a lot of stock, so my supplies arrive in dribs & dabs and each delivery is accompanied by a separate invoice!

    OK Hester, as you were!

Well, these useless meetings help to pass the time and presumably do an adequate job in massaging someone's ego.
I take it that the accounts department are there to deal with accounts. No?

    Ah well.

Just for another job related chuckle...

My job took me on for 1 day a week definitely with the possibility of doing the holiday and sick cover as and when. Then someone decided to leave, they go this week. They gave plenty of notice back in December but the powers that be decided not to recruit yet. So I'm doing full time until they get someone. Problem is, January is when 2 girls are taking annual leave, so they've borrowed someone from another branch to cover some but so far on a couple of days I'm on my own. This was a job that a couple of years ago had 4 people rostered on a day.....

    Think of the money Softstuff!

Hester - there are fairly high costs associated with processing invoices (although it doesn't sound as if they've explained the problem that way) so someone should be talking to your supplier about whether they can provide a single invoice per order, even if this means delaying delivery until they have all the stock they need to fulfil it. Or whether they can work with you to understand your demand pattern and therefore manage stock levels so they can support you better.
  • Hi Greenbee, understand this, I used to run my own business, it's the stupidity of the department that want me to change my order pattern to what it already is. The same department process the orders so they must know my order frequency, they just haven't realised that it's our supplier that is issuing lots of invoices, not my order frequency. There are only 2 people in the department so they obviously don't talk to each other.
I cannot wait for full stock to be available before it is delivered to me, we could be talking 3 to 6 week wait. I work in a school and teachers tend to be disorganised so don't ask me for stuff until it is already urgent.

Hester - as you place an order for a set amount maybe your supplier could deliver part orders against a delivery note until the order is complete and then invoice for the whole amount. I used to have suppliers who had 'call off' orders where I ordered large amounts but delivery was spread out HTH.

  • Softstuff - just change your title to "Superwoman". That should about cover it...
    :rotfl:

Do you think they'd "get it" if you put a blown-up photo of one of those "one man bands" up there on the wall - playing a variety of musical instruments at once?
  • SS, I've suggested that but it's not acceptable to the accounts department!
