  • Oh dear TT, I hope things improve.
I'm about to launch myself into packing up the leftovers and making a meal plan that doesn't involve eating turkey for the next three weeks non-stop.
First step is to make sausage rolls with the packet of sausages that didn't get eaten.
    Chin up, Titus out.

DS1 and elderly friend just gone - DS2, DiL and DGD coming this afternoon. Have cleared round, got rid of the empty bottles and all leftovers sitting in the fridge waiting for me to be 'creative' with tomorrow. Washing machine on and DH looking at the TV schedules :(
Sunny and dry here but with a very cold wind - think I need a walk.
Ooh TT - looks like you may have to do some abject grovelling - feel for you.
Hester - I've got some sitting in the freezer that didn't get used but its DS1's birthday in a couple of weeks & he'll have all his friends round so I'll 'gift' all the unopened nibbles to him.
Do hope everyone is getting a bit of peace and a sit down today x
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Hester I was once in Hospital for the week leading up to Christmas, a long long time ago.

This meant that my husband had to go get a turkey. Not have the sense to think, that due to me being ill, no one was coming for Christmas and we would only be three. He bought a 15lb Turkey. On Boxing Day I made all of the sauces I could make then poured different ones over enough turkey for three. I made up about 15 meals in all the containers I could find. If you do that don't forget to label them.

We did have cold turkey on Boxing Day but we were not faced with eating turkey for every meal for a week. They lasted until Easter.

...and for anyone fed-up already with "Christmas" tv...

I'm not usually a fan of wildlife documentaries - but this one has high "cuteness factor" and is very cleverly done:

    www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b086k8db/wild-tales-from-the-village

Who knew that chickens snored for instance?:rotfl::rotfl:

NB; I had to get it by a sort of roundabout route - involving putting in https://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo and then clicking on "Wild Tales from the Village".

sorry mar, can't help with the salt tablets, but I'm glad you've got your snow :T

We popped round to DD2's earlier to exchange presents, and this afternoon we're going to DD1's. Their dogs will be happy bunnies, so to speak. They are so happy and excited when their humans have visitors.

    Hi,
    Nice here ...:j
Only me and youngest 2 today,
House looks like a bomb has gone off , spent yesterday cooking all day , but at least everyone was gone by 9 30 ...
Have pottered about all day, used up some of the vast amount of left overs , frozen half , hope the rest will be eaten tonight /tomorrow,
Very windy here , power was off at about 3 am , had a wild time sorting dogs /chickens out ,everything blowing around . Although I must have looked slightly mad anyway as still had my pj's on under my "dog cleaning" coat ...really couldn't be bothered getting changed , so animals sorted then spent 30 mins peace and quiet in a very hot bath .... bliss
So now just waiting for dh to come in from work .

Can I take the tree down now , please .......

Burtha I took the tree down tonight so yes you can :p

Hubby spent most of the week suffering with his meds and only got up for an hour on Christmas day but wasn't a problem. Mum stayed and was fab. She has suffered years of Christmas's at the hand of my SIL because she didn't want everyone messing about driving her here. Dd invited her to theirs for dinner on the day so she couldn't refuse her.

So I had a bacon butty for Christmas dinner and enjoyed it. Hubs got up today to go to Ds's for a coffee and then we took Mum home. I am now off to bed with my new hot water bottle - mine died weeks ago and have been using DGs's tiny one :rotfl:

Both of our kids stuck to the frugal Christmas plan and I was very impressed. I am hoping for news of a grand child from Ds, well his wife that is, so am now planning what to make.

Shanks, so sorry for your loss xx

Monna I made fudge and despite using a thermometer its neither solid enough to be a sweetie or liquid enough for sauce so its in the fridge and Hubs keeps dipping in for a cube/blob:(

ginny: now that sounds like my sort of fudge. I'd be there with a slice of apple, a teaspoon or a finger to scoop bits out with.

mar: I am impressed that you are taking salt tablets. Just about everyone else I've ever heard about has been banned from salt. I thought it was certain death and destruction to put a pinch of salt in anything. Why are you so special?

Right. That's the first two days of Christmas done and dusted. Only ten more to go.
Doesn't that make you feel bitter?
    I mean better?
